Anyone else find cosmetic surgery and its results fascinating?

I always have. I could spend hours looking at people who've had cosmetic plastic surgery and trying to figure out what they've had done and what they were trying to achieve.

I also find it fascinating from a psychological standpoint, as in what leads someone to undergo such a drastic procedure in the first place. I find it incredible how many once-beautiful female celebrities have completely ruined their looks in an effort to maintain a youthful appearance. I've often wondered if these women are truly happier post-surgery or if they regret their decision to go under the knife.

Do you think a person who has unnecessary cosmetic surgery (not corrective surgery or anything like that) are damaged individuals? Do you respect their decision to alter their physical appearance in pursuit of a new-found confidence or do you think these people are foolhardy?

I don't know about all that, but I love a pair of fake boobs.

I've always wanted to squeeze a pair just out of curiosity. I wonder how they feel.

Like boobs but really really firm (all my friends had implants).

I have mentioned before that I had a boob bob (breast reduction). Can't say enough how happy I am with it and how it improved my quality of life. But facial plastic surgery? I don't know. I would love to get rid of the little bags under my eyes ( as you can see). But I think I will have to wait to see what the ravages of time do to my face before I will really know how I feel about it. Right now I can still tolerate looking at my mug in the mirror. As my Mom says, if bags under your eyes are your biggest problem you are truly blessed indeed.

That is so true.

I like to live by this philosophy when it comes to 'bags':

There are many reasons why people choose to have plastic surgery but ultimately I think it comes down to the fact that society has always had an ideal of what is beautiful, particularly for women. Today it's a youthful appearance, a slim body and certain facial features yet in other centuries the ideal was quite different. Unfortunately we live in a corporate world where many companies profit significantly from making people who don't fit the 'ideal' naturally, feel like shit for not doing so. Skin care, makeup, hair dye, body shaping garments like push up bras and Spanx, diet pills, fake tanning products.....the list goes on, are all there to profit from our inadequacies. For some the last resort is to have surgery after they've most likely already spent copious amounts of money on the aforementioned. It's a choice they make because......well......they can. I'm sure if the options were available in previous centuries a certain percentage of the population would have done it too.

It's funny to look at what was considered 'beautiful' in the past compared to today:

Pale skin, small breasts, big full hips:

Small narrow lips, smallish eyes with little to no definition and grey hair!!!!

In the 18th century women actually powdered their hair to make it grey.

In the 17 th century women pulled their eyelashes as well to make their eyes look bigger.

I find the change of what is considered beautiful over the centuries very interesting

I pity the woman who wants bigger breasts so much that she is willing to undergo highly invasive surgery ,for the sake that they will just be bigger.

Having big boobs isn't easy. You can't wear anything strapless, backless or halter-neck. No stick-on bras for you. Button-down shirts always gape open. You have to pick really well fitting clothes so you don't look fat. Then there's the backache. Big bras are expensive. The judgement from others when you're wearing a summer top, which happens to show off your cleavage, but the world thinks you're trying to show off.

And then growing huge boobs during puberty is one of the most horrible times of my life. Mine started growing age 10, so by the time I was 12-13 they were HUGE and being at school, classmates really lacked the tact to just ignore them. The girl with the biggest boobs in school was a worthwhile topic of conversation. I remember one lad asking "what does my mum think of them?!" Why should my mum's opinion matter?! (Mum didn't make it any easier, but that's a different story for my therapist).

And then at college, this gay guy thought he was at liberty to grab or touch my boobs as and when he saw fit, which was all the time. He stopped pretty suddenly after he found out I'd met my now husband.

I think many people equate big boobs with a big personality, which just isn't me. I tried to be that big personality who could joke along with everyone else about my chest, and I started to believe that the only value I had was that my chest was abnormally big.

Anyone who is willing to pay for those sort of experiences is probably better off spending their money elsewhere. (I'll take a victims' donation :P)

Now, I know you've all seen my photos, a few of you have met me, and you'd say "Grace, you're boobs aren't that huge". They used to be when I was younger. I've lost loads of weight since.
