DieselDaisy
Paulmusicianship and craftsmanship - even artifice; bouncier rhythms and melody; objective narrative driven lyrics.Johnmore rock n' roll instrumentalist; bonkers chord changes; subjective angst ridden pain; satirical 'dead pan' lyrics. More, 'art for art's sake'. Paul is more a creature of the Enlightenment whereas John is a, Romantic.
Len Cnut
I could agree with all of that actually Dies', and the value of each in the equation is equal. There's a lot of things people don't give John credit for and same with Paul. Paul, in 1966, with no classical training, although with George Martin helping, did the soundtrack for In The Family Way, a 60s psuedo kitchen sink piece, good movie too. dalsh327
To me it depends on what you're listening to at the time with the Lennon vs McCartney debate, because the listener could all say something different in a year but it's all about the power of collaboration with the two of them. John got into his strengths and weaknesses as a songwriter, I don't know if Paul ever did.
