I just saw that...awful. The 34 y/o woman they say is cooperating (on another site this is stated). What does that mean? Did she do it?

i dont think the 34 year old did it, she was stabbed as well. i think she is cooperating since she was the only one alive and may be able to tell the cops what the hell happened.

downzy i agree if you want to do harm, to it to yourself not innocent children/people.

Usually in the Australian media "cooperating with police " or "assisting police with their enquiries " is journalistic code for they did it. Not saying that is the case here, but that is normally what it means.

Same here in the states. That is what I was thinking.

Made me think of that Beaumont children case that always pops up on reddit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaumont_children_disappearance

This bit especially creeps me out: "Several months later a woman reported that on the night of the disappearance a man, accompanied by two girls and a boy, entered a neighbouring house that she had believed empty. Later she had seen the boy walking alone along a lane where he was pursued and roughly caught by the man. The next morning the house appeared to be deserted again, and she saw neither the man nor the children again. Police could not establish why she had failed to provide this information earlier."

i would agree, in the US those are code words as well but the women was stabbed multiple times as well. i mean its possible she is a real psycho and did the damage herself to appear to be an injured survivor of an attack but i dont think that is the case. the last i heard was they were investigating reports of a man that was seen outside the house earlier in the day.

Yeah, their mother killed them and then knifed herself. It's amazing how she managed to kill all her kids but couldn't kill herself? She's probably going to go for an insanity plea and I hope she doesn't it.

She probably stabbed herself just to make it seem like she wanted to die, but she just really wanted to kill herself.

when it comes to self preservation, human beings are able to keep them selves alive while others die around them.

How can a mother kill her children? I will never understand it nor would I forgive it.

I know. It defies belief, right. What must have been going through those poor kids heads in their last moments? As a parent myself I just can't comprehend what would drive someone to do this.

The mother has been arrested, and at a press conference this morning police are saying they are not looking for any other suspects at this stage.

looks like you and adriftatsea were right on about this. im wondering how she got the stab wounds, if she did it herself or if one of the kids was able to fight back long enough to wound her.

My guess is she did it to herself, I remember a similar case earlier in the year I think.

That the most likely scenario. I have heard (maybe it was CSI or something) that it is quite common for a knife wielding attacker to get cut themselves due to the victim (or in this case victims) trying to fight the attacker off.

I understand Amir & totally agree. However can you see my point of view (wrong or right) that neither of my children could be cared for by anyone else but me due to their illness, the amount of meds they were on & at differing times of the day, when I took ill with a migraine & vomiting I had to crawl from the toilet to the kitchen to get the meds for my child so he wouldn't have a seizure. Then crawl back to give him the meds which had to be mixed in a tube to feed him. When I got help to the house there was nobody who could take care of him so they called an ambulance & he ended up in ER for the day as that was the only place he could go much to the annoyance of the staff as ER isn't a babysitting service. By this stage he couldn't walk either.

My husband was also ill like my child & in adult nappies (diapers) couldn't chew food, needed thickened drink etc. There were many times when I thought that if I went off the deep end & decided to kill myself I would have to take my child with me as nobody else knew how to care for them. I never thought of taking their lives without me though - never ever.

This looks like an Aboriginal family & unfortunately they are fairly downtrodden in society however I haven't read the details this morning of what went on. Lets say I'm not surprised but it is an absolute tragedy beyond words.
