The love/sex/relationship thread

Since I can't find the old "guys looking for girlfriends"-thread that Kevin made a while ago, I'm making a new one. This time there won't be any contests, and both genders are allowed to post. Life with the opposite (or sometimes the same) sex has both good sides and bad sides, and in this thread you can feel free to whine when things aren't going your way or share your excitement when they are, as well as ask for relationship-advice. I started this thread and i'm a boss.

I dated my best friend's brother. It was a disaster. When I broke up with him I apparently broke up with her too, even though she swore she understood and was fine with it. Messy situation I would never want to be in again.

Sometimes people want to understand, but they're not ready. That, or your friend wasn't mature enough to really even accept the situation at the time. Kinda like viewing rejecting you as a friend as a way to show she's a good sister or some shit.

less loaded (lol) question: has anyone ever gone through with a threat (however joking it originally was) to bang a friend's sibling?

I've threatened to do it a lot as a joke, but never actually done it. I'd feel shitty if I ever did it without my friend being okay with it.

Yeah, I feel that. It happened this past weekend. She's hot. I had joked about it a lot before and then he was like "yo, she's coming this weekend" and never said anything about him actually not wanting me to do it, and she was obviously into it right off the bat, and, well, yeah.

I know the kid well enough to know when something is bothering him or he's lying about things being cool and it seems just fine.

That's cute. How nice of you.

I'd totally bang your sister, though.

Too bad I don't have a sister.

And I know you'd bang me first.

It's really not something I would ever suggest people do, unless your intentions are genuine and go further than "she's hot". There's a girl code, a bro code, and a never talked about sibling code which I learned about the hard way. In the end blood is thicker than water, and I can understand why. If someone is put into an uncomfortable or awkward situation where they might have to pick a side, their loyalty will lie with family. Totally depends on their relationship too of course.

You just need to stop the madness and buy a ticket to Orlando.

:P

Ha, you too. The fallout of those breakups is never fun.

I'm sure someone's pulled it off before. Soul mates, wedding cake, eternal bliss, and the whole nine.

Yeah, understandable. It definitely wasn't the best call I've ever made, but it's not a situation where I see her regularly or anything so I don't foresee any long-term repercussions at this point. We'll see.

I diddled my best friend's little cousin at his wedding. I figured that as the best man it was my duty or something.

Edit. Thanks very much for knocking that post onto the next page and hence removing it from the context in which it needed to be seen. Cheers Syd!

I dated a guy who was the brother of a friend, he was also the ex of another friend. Unsurprisingly it ended badly. So many dating faux pas, I learned my lesson on that one.

My boyfriend's been really good to me recently. I'm a lucky girl

He also hinted at a change of relationship status on the cards (and no we're not breaking up )

So the long distance thing is going well?

As well as long distance can go -_-

Nah, it's going well. I mean it sucks missing each other, but we manage to see each other every couple of weeks so it's not too bad. He said he's probably going to move down to Guildford in spring or summer, once he's got everything sorted out :)

That's really good news, I remember how worried you were about it. Long distance is hard for everyone, but it does give you the chance to live independently and see your partner at your convenience. His move down to Surrey sounds like a plan. ;)

In other news, I get married in less that 3 weeks (Friday 7th November). Living together has been lovely, but I do miss the time I had on my own. He does all the cooking, which was part of the deal of me moving over and commuting so long a distance. It's great not having to worry about food.

Thanks Gracii ^_^ Yeah, I was still fretting about some stuff but we had a really good talk on Wednesday when he was here (which also helped take my mind off current family stuff :() and we both feel a lot better about where we're at now and our plans for the short/mid-term future until we're ready for the big transatlantic move :)

Also congrats! That's nice you have that arrangement, we're gonna be a disaster when he moves in  We're both horribly messy, and we both love cooking but he's not so good at sticking to simple/healthy foods...and I'm easy to persuade with something delicious
