Budweiser
Any members regulars at the gym? I am, although I'd hardly consider myself a "gym rat" - In fact, I now think that the title of this thread is gay. I digress. For those of you that do go, what do you do? Cardio or lift? Or both? What kind of exercises do you recommend? I guess people who are looking to get started could use this thread as well. It's about that time of year when people start making their New Year's resolution... Edited March 16, 2010 by Budweiser

Lithium
Heading out soon to train chest, delts and arms. It's the first time I train chest since I injured my pec minor a few weeks back. I think I'll just do some light regular dumbbell bench presses and see how it goes.

Black Sabbath
How much do you typically dumbbell press, Lith?Chest day today, and I've been severely lacking (as in, not doing it) with getting some cardio and abs in on the days I want, so going to hopefully get back into the swing of that today. Chris1989
You guys work to completely different goals to me, so my objectives are cycling specific compared to your more rounded programmes.I've lost 7 lbs in the last 6 weeks whilst keeping my power output the same - power to weight being key to cycling success.Feels awesome!

Chris1989
How does one train for cycling?Core strength, squats, cycling up massive hills over and over, high intensity intervals...You do 95% of it on the bike, and then add the usual diet and recovery.I'm fit enough to cycle 100 miles two days in a row, but I am now going to be working on 25 minute power.Lots of 5 minutes flat out, 3 minute recovery x until you're sick. Len Cnut
Cyclers and swimmers etc have the best fuckin' physiques. Never got on with all that hulk stuff.
Chris1989
Cyclists do not have a good physique, we're confused with anorexics!Swimmers though, I wish I had never quit. I started again last month as I'm doing a triathlon next year - that's an excellent all round workout and I would rather have the body of a swimmer than any other athlete. Len Cnut
Do you not, i thought they were pretty much like swimmers. Then again, thinking about it, those swimmers do have a bit of chunk on them comparitively.
