Tyren
Hello everyone!First of all I want to say that I'm NOT a singer and I just do this from time to time as a hobby.I made this recording to get some feedback from you,Not necessarily technical critique (though if someone has it I would love to listen),But more of a general feedback if you like how I sound and if you think its good or not.Anyway, I just recorded some lines and parts from different Guns N Roses songs and live stuff, my vocals only, no songs or backing tracks (so excuse me if lyrics/timing/notes are off).So basically just tell me what do you think... Nosaj Thing
I think you're going to damage your vocals chords if you continue to force your throat like that. It doesn't sound bad, but it doesn't sound like Axl Rose either. I mean, if anything, it sounds like you're mocking him.Btw, welcome to the forum. Please visit the other sections and have fun! DR DOOM
I must say this was a lot better than I was expecting, though from what I listened to it sounded more like Brian Johnson than Axl to me.
Apollo
Sing in your natural voice - with a little less rasp - and save the rasp for special moments. You're trying so hard to keep the growl/rasp going that it sometimes gets in the way of you singing the actual words.Sounds more like old ac/dc or an old 80s death metal band than Axl.But it sounds like you can sing. I would just recommend you go with your own style instead of trying to sound like somebody else.

Well my natural voice is somewhat high and his is very low so this might be the reason why it sounds to you like I'm mocking him, but don't worry, I'm definitely not. Also, it doesn't meant to sound like him (I wish I could though), its just in the style, or maybe "inspired by" if you will. Thanks for the welcome I must say this was a lot better than I was expecting, though from what I listened to it sounded more like Brian Johnson than Axl to me.That's nice to hear! They're both great singers though so I don't mind, haha Sing in your natural voice - with a little less rasp - and save the rasp for special moments. Let me explain What you hear here is like you said, full rasp all the time.I can sing with just a little rasp, but I need to do much more practice to make it sound good and to fully control it.However, unfortunately I might not be able to practice at all in the next few months, and I wanted to hear some feedback before I won't be able to record at all.So I wanted to get feedback on something I think I do good and control well, which is full rasp.About the other thing, I'm not trying to sound like somebody else, its just in the style. Also, don't forget the first thing I said here, I'm not a singer, its just a little hobby Edited March 10, 2015 by Tyren

tinyrobot
It sounds like you're impersonating him and that's bad bad bad. At times, I felt like laughing. Sorry I think you shouldn't do this or go for his "style" at all if you want to be a singer, please get rid of Axl. The gingerhead is unique and when impersonated the person doing it looks and sound mostly like a clown so please, try to find your own style and don't force your voice like that.
