Interesting. Funny that he filed it on June 6, if it's the name of the next album it might explain why he played that epic set

Why "Guns n' Roses" is registered by Axl, Slash and Duff? I thought that only Axl had the rights...

Stay of execution is not 100% registered...

From what I understand Axl started another group/business and called it Guns N Roses.

Yeah I think there's two legal entities, rockerman can explain it all.

The credit must go to ChineseIRS on this forum! :)

From what I can gather, it's a trademark for a band name most likely. It fits the categories it is filed under. You can't trademark an album name directly.

I don't know much about copyright law, but didn't Axl threaten to sue Offspring when they were going to call their album "Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze You Lose)"?

This is awesome and new information for me!

And what about that story on Slash's book that Axl forced Slash and Duff to sign a doc assigning GN'R rights to him, otherwise he (Axl) wouldn't go on stage???

It might be something that relates to the legal "partnership" that, as far as I know, still exists among Axl, Duff, and Slash. Axl owns the legal rights to the name, but the three of them are still partners regarding the guardianship of the old band. I'm fairly certain this is why when either Slash or Axl wants to incorporate anything from the old band into a product (i.e., covering a Guns song on a solo album or having a GNR song licensed for a movie), it takes the approval of all three.

It would be great if this was the album title, but I'm concerned that instead of just releasing the album, trademarking the name means that the album is some way off from being done.
