Mad Max (Video Game)

Looks drastically improved from previous trailer, all the delays to the film seem to have resulted in an epic tie-in game:

Only sour note is the "pre-order now to get The Ripper" at the end, but it'll probably be a year or so until I get a PS4 and play this anyway.

Looks amazing. It's great they aren't tying this into the movie, allowing the development team the time needed to make it decent. It's reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption, just set in the Mad Max World. If it's half as good as RDR, it's definitely worth a purchase.

Guess I'll be getting a PS4 after all.

BTW, I included the video game reference in the title so that people confuse this thread for the movie thread.

Along with Red Dead Redemption, it looks like the game Rage should have been. I was following that game for a while but by release it was clear it wasn't the game that people had in mind when it was announced. This looks like it will deliver beyond people's expectations.

Coming out for Windows as well but I doubt my MacBook Pro w/ BootCamp will be able to handle it. There are still a few PS4 exclusives I want to play (Last of Us, Journey, hoping Ico + Shadow of the Colossus come over to PSNow), but I suppose PC cards and CPUs that could run this will have dropped in price by the time I get round to playing this as well, we'll see.

Weather system is cool, wonder if it's dynamic or scripted. Only quibble is the combat seems to be guys taking it in turns to take you on (one guy actually drops his guard and just hangs around while you beat up his buddy :P ).

Agreed about the fighting system. Here's hoping they refine it, but I doubt much will change. Kind of reminds me of the fighting system used in the Arkham series. In the end, hand to hand fighting looks like it's going to be just one small component of the game. I'm more interested in the open road driving combat, story, and what the Mad Max outback environment has to offer. Hopefully the map is large as well.

I was worried about Avalanche going from the rich bustling world of Just Cause to the barren desert of Mad Max, but it seems atmospheric and varied enough (looks like there's a Thunderdome as well!).

I sort of ignored this because movie-related releases have been "eh" in my experience...... but if the game's anything like these trailers show, that's pretty awesome. Looks great, combat looks cool, interesting settings/scenery, allusion to customizable gear/skills, mention of an "open world." All of the things a modern action/RPG game should have.

I'm optimistic since the game was developed outside of the movie. Generally games that are tied to movies have short development cycles (18 months tops) which is usually why they're terrible. I think this game has been in development in one form or another since 2010. I believe it was first showcased at E3 in 2013. Hopefully it won't suffer like most movie-related video games. You'd think with all the success games like GTA and Red Dead Redemption that IP rights holders would opt for longer development times and make a ton on the video game versus the quick cash grab that most movie-related games produce.

Another thing I learned today is that it's coming out for Xbox One. For some reason I thought it was an PS4/PC exclusive. Guess that puts back me getting a PS4 awhile. :)

It looks really good. Is it an open world game?

The only time I get to play games properly is around Xmas, so I may get this

Yes, it's an open-world game. Think Red Dead Redemption but set in a post-apocolyptic Australia.

It's pretty fun...as long as you are a fan of the movies.

I suppose it can get repetitive real fast if you are not that into looking for details that come directly from the movies.

Other than that, I'm having more fun with this than with MGS V...

i like this game more than MGS V not sure why some reviewers went so negative on it, its no more repetitive than MGS V
