Hired By Geffen

Hi Marc, I wanted to know that after the band was signed to Geffen, were you hired by them or the band members called you to take the pics?

Was Vicky Hamilton hired by Geffen? As far as I know Tom Zutat was handling all the paper work and discussing things, what was Vicky Hamilton's Role after the band got signed to Geffen?

Who wanted Vicky out and Alan Niven in?

No I was not a professional photographer is was just a hobie for me. Robert John did that for a living and he went on with the band and also got other jobs because of that.

The band knew what Vicky was good at booking gigs around LA and she was also able to get big funding from this guy Howie hubberman who owned a guitar shop and used to back and manage Poision. GNR was looking for someone who could take them to the next level and other than Steven didn't think Vicky could do that.

It was good the Geffen hired her because she did have a great ear and eye to find good bands. She had a great track record for that. Vicky got the short end of the stick with GNR. She put borrowed like 25k to put into the band and then they never tried to pay her back. She had to sue the band i think in 1989 to get back her money. I doesn't sound like something Axl would just let go of. AXl always took care of the people that onced helped him. The only thing that I can think of is that GNR legal team may have advised them not to pay her back because that may have opened a can of worms and the band may have had to pay her real big money instead of 50K liked they talked about paying her when they let her go. I don't kniow if they told her this but they did plane on paying her 50K when they start making good money. I could also be maybe she siad something not so nice about the band out of anger that she didn't get her money back and then took it out on the band or Axl in other ways in interviews?

So finally she got her money back? She said in an interview that she saw Axl at a fast food chain and Axl totally ignored her, How is her relationship with other members? I know things between her and Slash are cool now, but when the band was not paying her money back, she was mad at Slash also? I know she wouldn't have met Izzy since 1989 or so, with Steven and Duff I guess her relationship would be neutral at the moment, after how long she got normal with Slash after this incident?

Yes they settled out of court for something like 35K or a bit more. Steven and Slash never really stopped talking to her and would bump into her all the time. I don't know about Izzy or Duff but I'm sure they would have no problem with her. The problem with Axl is Vicky went and said some things that were not so nice about Axl so thats where that will end.

She sued the band? That´s news to me. I read Slash and Duff books and I don´t remember reading about that. And they thanked her at the HOF. And according to your book Marc she was with them the day they signed with Geffen. How come she didn´t get something out of the deal?

You are right she should have got something from when the band signed their record deal since she was their manager but I think she was just waiting it out for more things to come. Yes she sued them because they weren't paying her back the money she put out that helped them get signed. Soon as they offered her her money back they settled.
