WHEN I WAS YOUNG, There were so many things that I was never told... (Demo thread)

Recommended Posts

After after over 20 years of listening to them 14 Years is one of there most underrated and note perfect song. See when they played straight rock n roll, straight good times Stonesy rock n roll they were just so good, i wish they could've explored that more. I get like, y'know, when you've done a thing then you move on but they'd barely explored that whole like...gamut of Americana, they could've been so brilliant. Used to Love Her fits that mould, One in a Million fits that mould.

The metal aspect I maintain was their fuckin' shortcoming, it just made them lean more towards pound a penny noise merchants instead of the rhythm supreme, groovy danceable music that they were, like Brownstone. It just seems to me like they sold themselves out on their best fuckin' qualities, they could've at least given us four or five solid albums of just straight rock n roll, none of that turned up too loud Metal aspect of em.

I could not agree more! G n' R is best when they're straight-up rockin' and rollin'!

Surprised this is the first some people are hearing this One In A Million demo. Nonetheless, it is an awesome version!!

I was surprised too. I thought I've heard just about everything there was. That is just a killer take on it.

We GNR fans are pretty lucky to have so much good to amazing sounding complete outtakes lying around, from all eras of the band. Thank god we don't have to wait for an official release to be able to hear them :D

I wonder why they didn't put Back Off Bitch on AFD instead of Anything Goes

another, more raw version

Btw Anything Goes exist with diff lyrics and with different solos too

and there's another one, but i couldn't find at the moment

the 14 Years demo is cool with the extended Skynyrd-esque ending....I'd post it....if i knew how :wow::monkey:

yeah, I thought about that too

They should have kept that. And go for another minute if they wanted to.

The Alt Lyrics for Anything Goes was used live in 86 and early 87. Before AFD was written

Yes and no.

Yes, we have a somewhat decent amount of outtakes & demos circulating for years.

Yes, we have a tremendous amount of live recordings, mostly audience, but a decent amount of soundboards.

But if you look to the amount of outtakes and demos and unfinished songs and rehearsals etc of some other bands that are in circulation , it feels like we have kind of little -- and it feels like there may be so much priceless stuff hidden somewhere.

For you to have an idea, there is a 10 disc bootleg of the Rolling Stones that documents the recordings of Voodoo Lounge. Its called Voodoo Brew, Voodoo Stew and Voodoo Residue (details here = http://www.rollingstonesnet.com/vigo.html )

I am sure that the right person (people) who own the tapes could put together something like this for GNR, like, for example, for the Illusion sessions, and release it officially.
