BetterDay7
I wondered if any of you have done a tour of the places that were important to Slash, from childhood onwards? You know, like they do 'literary' walks and such like. Reading the autobiography you can chart his movements (in a non-stalker-like way, I hasten to add!) - places he lived, went to school, the clubs, obviously, Hell House, hotels he hung out in - all mostly in LA. I'm curious as I've become interested in LA though my chances of going there are somewhat remote.
Słash
I guess some people may have done it, it would be weird to do that, I know many people would have gone through Axl's house or well any celebrities house if its not in a guarded communityI guess the only place I would like to go would be Canters Deli, it would be cool to meet Marc and sit in the GNR booth, I would also like to see the hell house, but well It is owned by someone else and it would make no sense to go there
ZoSoRose
The hell house is still around?
dalsh327
Best bet is to ask Marc.
Słash
The hell house is still around? That "House" is still there, but its not called the Hell House now, I forgot on which street it was, but the actual house is still there, I assume it would be owned by some else now, I don't even know who owned it before

I think if you did a few spots of the 'tour' on your own or just with a friend as part of a holiday that wouldn't be too weird - you know, wandering around Laurel Canyon, checking out Canter's, and the clubs GNR played at. Marc Canter provides a map of the key places in Reckless Road, including the site of the Hell House. I guess some people do check these places out. Am reading a book about California and LA at the moment and thought, 'Man, how could you ever get bored there!?! Wish I lived in LA.' But then gave myself a kick 'cos the view from the end of my street is of a mediaeval castle. To me that's fairly workaday cos I see it every day but prob would be interesting to other people. BetterDay7
I am charting Duff's journey now. Great to look places up on net or maps as you say.
BetterDay7
If charting Steven's journey I wonder if you have to include the mattresses from which he nursed the crack pipe. Gulp! Ah, b;less him. Hope that is all over for him now. Edited May 23, 2015 by BetterDay7
smoking guns
I went to the Rainbow Bar and Grill and sat in their booth they always sit in. I also drove out to Malibu and went by Axl's house.

I would very much like to do this. Been reading about Malibu - it looks gorgeous. How did you know it was 'their' booth? Is there a plaque?! This book I am reading on California (a guide to) is great but it misses out that the state is linked to music, rock music esp, not just films. Feel that was a real missed opportunity by the writers. smoking guns
Just ask the waitress or host where old school GNR sat, reference the November rain video. It is the back left corner booth. You will see the shutters that will be closed but where open for the video. It was very cool and I got some pics from there.
