Towelie
In terms of his solo records, I only really know Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and they're both brilliant albums start to finish. What else would you say from his solo work was worth checking out? Len Cnut
I personally love and adore Sometime In New York City, simply cuz i love the premise, the idea of being like a musical reporter, really shows the bastards talent to reel off songs, John Sinclair, Attica State, Luck of the Irish, they're all kinda like...issue songs, makes the album seem really like...urgent/important. I'm probably a bad person to ask, i got a bit of a blind spot about Johnny Scouse, i think everything he did was fantastic.
Towelie
Always been intrigued by Double Fantasy but the Yoko duets put me off giving it a listen...

wasted
Rock N Roll. It's obvious but yes I like that record. Double Fantasy. I've got a great hits thing. The first one I got was Shaved Fish? Nice.I love Yoko, i think she gets a bad rap for nothing.I went to a show of hers a few years ago. There was a message tree where you hang a message. I wrote Chinese democracy starts now. John was smacking bitches up inhis grave. Just in Vegas you know at the the casino.
dalsh327
Yoko's songs on Double Fantasy are pretty good but you might as well hear the Lennon songs on Milk and Honey along with the Double Fantasy songs. I think Walls & Bridges and Mind Games get overlooked more than they should, and Harry Nilsson's Pussy Cats is another good "Lost Weekend" album. luciusfunk
I'm not too big on any of his albums in their entirety except Plastic Ono Band and Imagine. I don't think Rock N Roll really counts. Edited June 9, 2015 by luciusfunk

I'm not too big on any of his albums in their entirety except Plastic Ono Band and Imagine. I don't think Rock N Roll really counts. It's an interesting chapter in his solo career. A best of and that I you get the idea.

On a serious art level a lot of the artistry that we speak of, in the context of pop music (and i don't necessarily agree with this position) is kinda lightweight and puerile and laughable. Then again we're often taking the piss with it too sooo..Shes very influential in the context of the whole post punk movement too. VERY influential. Then again we're often taking the piss with it too sooo..Shes very influential in the context of the whole post punk movement too. VERY influential.I don't think she's an important conceptual artist but yeah she was influential even to Young British Artists like Hirst, Emin, Lucas because although her conceptual base is not fundamental she took it in pop art direction later. So in the context of music she is was the populist front of conceptual art. She's expressing personal feels or ideas through the work. It's not formal language art. But I think she got retrospectives much earlier because of the Lennon media attention. Her work has got more populist to the point where it's almost in the Neo-conceptual bracket. It's less experimental and absurd than early on.In conceptual art it's art because it's a new definition of art. I don't think she ever did that because she didn't really approach it in that formal way that Kosuth or LeWitt did. So she's important figure in pop culture more than she's important to art history. I saw a show of hers the other year it's very playful, visual and interactive Edited June 10, 2015 by wasted
DieselDaisy
The Yoko songs on Double Fantasy are mental; they are really demented punky electronica. In some ways they are more interesting than John's who was going through his housewife period. Pity he didn't use the Cheap Trick version of Losing You which has a lot more, bite. Dr. Who
Anyone love Double Fantasy and Milk & Honey?Borrowed Time is an underrated track.
Johnny Drama
Woman is one of his best solo songs, better than Imagine. I'll say that about Double Fantasy. Might have been soft rock-ish, but the man had his songwriting chops back. Not crap Whatever Gets You Thru The Night. That crap sounded like Peter Allen. Proper gay and that. Er, yeah, i like his music, definite genius in the simplicity and effectiveness of everything. Love is real, real is love, love is being loved.
