Is Rayman Legends worth buying a Wii-U for?

Right. Let's start off by stating that I'm not a PS / X-box fan and have no intention to buy one.

I am, however, a huge Rayman fan. I loved playing the original, Rayman The Great Escape and Rayman Hoodlum Havoc on pc. So when they finally announced Rayman Origins the mrs and I got a Wii (we both love Mario too) and I spent many many hours loving it.

Sadly, I haven't played 2013's Rayman Legends yet because it was only for Wii-U. Now I'm considering buying one just to catch up on this game (and maybe Mario too). Have any of you played it and is it worth it?

Rayman Legends is the shit...provided you can handle the hysterical noises and general fucked-up-ness going on at all times but...can't you simply get it on PC instead of spending all that money on a new platform ?

By now I don't even have a pc anymore, just a laptop. And playing it on that would suck monkeyballs no matter how good the game is.

Then, if you like Rayman so much, I'd say go for it because it's a great platformer and multiplayer game.

Besides, the Wii-U has at least one other amazing game : Fatal Frame 2 / Project Zero 2.

I think Rayman and Mario alone would be worth it for me.

I do intend to get a new pc the week before Half Life 3 is released. But certainly no sooner.

I've heard great things about it, but not gotten round to picking it up myself. I essentially bought a Wii U to play Mario Kart and Wind Waker HD, it was definitely worth it, and found loads of other games I really enjoyed.

Okay, if you are looking for a new console and want to play the new Rayman (never palyed the new Rayman myself), then it is as good a choice as any for the purchase.

The screen on the gamepad controller is a really nice feature, if playing through the TV, it usually supplements the gameplay in some way. If not using the TV, then you can display the game through it obviously - a very cool feature. The controller is comfortable in spite of the size and it is also lightweight.

The price is good as it is considerably cheaper than its competitors.

And as others have said, there are some great games for it regardless of your taste in games.

I got mine for Xmas from my girlfriend and I wanted it for the exclusive Sonic Titles initially. But I have also really enjoyed playing Bayonetta 2 on it.

Smash brothers is good fun too.

Honestly, the Wii-U is pretty inexpensive, or at least it was when I got one.

I'm not saying you should waste your money buying one for the sake of it, but you could always pick one up, play the game for as long as you want, then sell it afterwards.

I only ever really played Mario Kart with mine, but I'm seeing things like Splatoon that interest me (and obviously, I'd like to try Smash Bros out too). Even if you only get it for one game, it can still be worth it. I know they were being sold for less than 100 euros in some European countries early last year.

Yes, why not?! Something you like go forth a buy buy buy.

Essentially true, but we're talking about the same money as 3 great bottles of single malt here man. Choices.
I suppose Halo 4 was like 3 bottles of gin. But variety is the spice of life if there's just one game you like then surely it's worth it. There's plenty of single malt in the sea.

I wish they would make a great Harvest Moon game for the Wii-U. I would probably buy one then. I loved Harvest Moon. Still check my farm on the N64 once over 2 years or so

Edit: Just read that they're making one for later this year, actually. Hope it's good. The last ones I played were A Wonderful Life on the GameCube, which was kind of depressing, regardless of how much I loved it at the time, and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. Played the fuck out of that one. Pretty sure I still have it somewhere too. That's really all I want from that kind of game. Just like the old ones. No big story or plot - just let me raise a farm and get money and build a bigger house and shit

Are any of the 3DS ones worth getting? Would give me a reason to pick mine back up, despite never beating the last Pokémon game. :(

There are 2 Harvest Moon games for the 3ds: The Lost Valley (2014) and A New Beginning. (2012)

Don't get The Lost Valley. It kinda sucks. A New Beginning is quite enjoyable.

Looks like A New Beginning and Story of Seasons are the best bets for the 3DS. I'll probably hold off and see about the Wii-U one because that sounds like it's more along the lines of game play and everything that I want.

Liked Story Of Seasons but it's not officially an Animal Crossing game. Still better then The Lost Valley imo.

I prefer to play Nintendo games on the Wii U, and if they get the console version right I'd go with that as well.

You're right - it's not :P

But yeah, hoping they do the console version right as I'd definitely get a Wii-U for it.
