I used to have a Maiden documentary on VHS from the '80s. It had the artist who does the artworks speaking. It shows their boozer where they started out. I remember Eddie was original Eddie the Ed, some head they stuck on a pole or something or other.

Little different than todays Eddie :D

Fun gig in Oklahoma City last night, band was a bit loose though. Only shitty thing was hardly any traveling fans did that gig, it was the least people I've known at any gig since before I started traveling.

Houston tomorrow!

Was it a full house in OKC?

Well it was reduced capacity - they closed the upper level. I guess the capacity with last night's setup was 8,000, and they had 6,000 sold without walk ups. That said...I'm actually pretty impressed with that turn out all things considered. The show was their first in OKC in 32 years, so it's clearly not a strong market for them. On top of that, they played their first gig in Oklahoma in 29 years last year on the same tour (In Tulsa), they're following OKC with 3 shows in Texas, AND it was a Monday night.

K got my awesome Texas Iron Maiden shirt last night.

Ghost was awesome! Papa in all his glory. The new ghouls rocked. I think the bass player might be a girl, because the figure was so small compared to the other ghouls. Papa was in a good happy mood. I just love him. Plenty of Ghost fans in the crowd. it was great.

Iron Maiden came on around 9. Opened with If eternity should fail. Awesome stage show. These guys rock hard. I can't believe how Bruce runs around that stage like he was twenty. Eddie came out during "The book of Souls". It was so cool. Eddie was rockin and then he chased the guys around and Bruce ripped his heart out and threw it in the crowd. So much fun!

It was so hot in Dallas yesterday. The show was pretty much sold out. You could see everyone when they put the house lights up. I felt like I was in a hot house. Then leaving the venue was like going into an oven. it was just terrible weather wise last night. Anyway, so worth seeing IM. They never disappoint.

I do hope Ghost comes back to Dallas soon. I just love them!

A bunch of us are pretty sure the bass player is a girl, but the hands look very masculine when you him/her/it up close.

I got dehydrated in Dallas, so it wasn't the greatest gig for me. I don't even remember it hardly. But San Antonio last night was off the fucking wall. It's my favorite city in the US to see Maiden in, and it proved itself once again last night with a killer crowd.

New Mexico bound now!

So sorry you got dehydrated. I know I was super hot too. My mom was very hot. We drank a lot of water, but since the place was packed it was like there was no air. My mom wanted to stay until the end, but she just couldn't take the heat anymore. We were all sweating so badly. It felt disgusting. When we left AA it was like walking into an oven. Terrible. We did see the ABC ten o'clock news being shown. Anyway, awesome show, but too hot. My mom's next show is HIM in November.  Hopefully, it'll be cooler.

My brother is going to gexa to see Rammstein on Thursday night. I told him to stay hydrated because that place gets super hot.

Well, maybe the bass player is a teenage boy or a small woman with "man hands" lol It's a Seinfeld thing.

Cool you went to San Antonio too.  Yeah, from what I've seen Texas fans love their rock and metal and that's very cool!

Catching up on the last few gigs...

ABQ was honestly probably the sloppiest Maiden gig I've ever seen. That said, it was a fucking ball. There was a pretty serious storm blowing in as Ghost was on, so everyone figured we'd get a show with no pyro or inflatables. It was SO windy that the band couldn't keep their hair out of their faces. Bruce's voice was total shit. There were technical glitches. The band absolutely botched like 4 or 5 different songs. But there were just SO many things that went wrong they just laughed it all off, and that made it a really fun gig.

Phienix was much better. Total mad dash to get there from ABQ (I think it was about 7 hours?), but no one Queueing up since it was 112 degrees so I still managed to get my spot on the barrier. It was the last gig for a few of the Europeans, so we had a bit of fun and all switched our flags in the barrier - the band got a good laugh about that :)

San Bern was a bit shit for me. The girl I've been traveling with got really sick during Ghost and nearly passed out - not sure if it was dehydration or what. But we left the pit to get her some food on the lawn, but she still felt so weak that we just sat up there for the whole gig. A bit of a downer to end my Southwest trip on, but what can you do?

headinng home tomorrow night, and I pick back up in Kansas City on the 11th, and from there on I finish out the tour...

Man, great show!  A little too much material from Book of Souls for my liking, but I knew that going in.  The classic Maiden tunes, especially Number of the Beast and seeing Ghost made it all worthwhile.   Ghost man, my new favorite band that was some sick shit.

Wandered into a couple different bars in Lincoln last night. Pretty lame really. Then we hit this "Irish pub" that was pretty deserted, but these long haired Brits at the bar commented on my Motörhead shirt. Started chatting, and it turns out they were part of the road crew. I recognized Nicko's drum tech from a video I posted yesterday on another thread. We did some drinking and were spinning the jukebox (one of them played live Ratt ?) and having a great time, til a wad of douchebags came in escorting a bachelorette party and "nexted" all our songs for some kinda dancy horse shit. It was fun while it lasted though...

I saw those dudes I was partying with up on the stage getting it all ready for Maiden after Ghost last night. The bald guy on the left of the photo looked like he was the head guy- I don't know if you'd call that the stage manager? Except the guy giving the thumbs up and the other big blonde haired guy over my shoulder- I never saw them. I didn't talk to them about their specific jobs. Except Nicko's drum tech. But he offered that info up... Maybe Powerage5 knows these guys?

Enjoyed the show! Maiden kicked serious ass as always. Crowd was very lame though I thought. No where near as rowdy as usual. But, I guess that's a Sunday night in Lincoln NE for ya...

Most surprising thing to me was how much I enjoyed Ghost. I didn't think I'd like them at all, but I loved their show! Super performers and their songs just really sounded cool live...

Ash is the bald one in the white shirt in your pic, and yeah - he's the stage manager. The other bald guy is Squid, he's the monitor guy, doesn't really do anything onstage after the initial setup earlier in the day. No clue who the guy with his thumb up is, don't think I've ever seen him before. Charlie is Nicko's tech. Can't say who else you met without seeing pictures. Shaun (Adrian's tech) and Colin (Dave's tech) are probably safe bets, but you never know who's gonna be where the night before.

Glad you enjoyed the gig though :)

wow IM, Anthrax and Judas Priest :D would be great but don't really belive it until on IM official page . . .

also IM page has dates on tour tab divided by months - so...

mix of stadium and arena dates in one leg - i'm not sure...

I think they did stadiums and arenas on Maiden England tour. Still 99% sure it's fake :D
