During the concert they introduced him indeed, communicating it was a kind of "Slash-joke" with the aim to entertain the audience. I personally was there under the platform where "Slash" walked on, and even during the soundcheck I saw that guy walking on to figure out how to make the guitar sound properly up to the end of the platform.
