The "Axl/Slash/Duff + 2 Mystery Players Re-banded But Not A Reunion Tour" Thread - Announcement Imminent!

Recommended Posts

Axl needs Pitman if he wants to perform This I Love like he did in 2009-2014. And I know most of you here dreamed about Slash playing This I Love.

Slash slaying This I love would be epic.

But can he play better than the old one?

I can only imagine DJ should get a ticket to see how a real rock star performs, lol Slash would own that tune

IF Slash adds his own Magic to the songs on CD, it would be way more better. I would like to see Slash to do something with the solo of Madagascar.

Anyone know what happened to the cartoon video of the band on the phone talking about reuniting? That was just the best and so dead on. Its the same characters as in the Fart Tennis video, which is equally outstanding. For some reason Fart Tennis is still online but I can't find the other one anymore. Was it taken down? These guys:

The other one was great. Nailed Slash's drunken rambling speech, Axl was in love with Izzy, Izzy was kind of creeped out and aloof, Adler was just in love with everyone always professing how much the band meant to him, and Duff is just kind of the happy go lucky guy trying to keep the peace. One of the funniest things I'd ever seen.

I think Frank unfollowed Slash. I just checked his followers and he isn't there. He is following Gilby though..

I just checked, he is still following him and he has been following him since a while, not today or yesterday.

We're scaring him. Maybe if we keep stalking his every move he'll pull out of the reunion entirely.

One can dream.

My mistake. He is following him. Checked on my computer and couldn't see Slash. Checked on my phone and i could...

As I say to ant Nirvana fan out there, don't believe everything Kurt says. The guy claimed to be the "real deal" and the most anti corporative guy in the world while possing for his magazines. His "feud" with Axl was nothing more than him name calling to get more promotion for his band.

Could it be the reunion is just a couple shows? The entire classic lineup for a hand full of shows. That would certainly have a huge impact and the attention, sales, DVD sales would be off the charts. Original line up. Three shows. Adler could handle that. Fans get to see the classic line up together one more time.

Them everybody goes back to their other bands. Axl and his new guys/old new guys release Cd2 later this year. Slash goes back to releasing his next Record with Kennedy. Both things which have been talked about.

That would be insane. There would not be this much hype just for them to do a small thing then return to their old bands. Sorry, but they could just put out a press release one day, with no hype, and say they were doing that. The same way VR was like "we'll do this one thing, then thats it." You don't hype the way they are hyping right now to do 3 shows then go back to your old bands. Thats insane. Sure, change the logo of your website for something that will be a one month thing. No, clearly its on and clearly its gonna be big. Thats not us saying that. They are truly hyping it that way, as it rightfully fucking should be.

I agree with you that's it's probably more.

But this is Axl we are talking about, so that throws the logical ideas out the door.

Logically - a new album and tour featuring the classic lineup. That would make the most sense. Make the most money. And be the most pleasing to the greatest number of fans.

But with Axl and The Beta in charge..,,you never know!!!

I'm a little confused on the big hype you are talking about tho. Changing their logo on a webpage, a concert teaser at a movie that doesn't actually say anything, and no members have spoken about anything.

Axlsalinger

I'm confused.

So it's smart to not announce plans during the holiday season (because people apparently don't check the internet on their phones while they are on vacation).

BUT it's smart to spend a million dollars during the holiday season to tease a future announcement.

Wouldn't common sense dictate that your logic for not doing the announcement would also apply to the non-announcement ads? Shouldn't it be a bad time to do that as well?

And why in the hell would a venue or promoter spend a million bucks to advertise that GnR was playing? Every news site and music site on the web is going to announce it if GnR is reuniting at there show. GnR Facebook and twitter pages are going to reach 30-40 million people.

GnR reuniting will be the biggest music story of at least the first quarter of 2016. Spending a million bucks to advertise one show would be one of the worse use of money in the history of concerts.

You keep wondering why they don't make an announcement RIGHT NOW! If you can't see the basic reason why it makes more sense for ANYBODY to make a major announcement in early January rather than during the Christmas holidays, I'm afraid I can't help you further with that.

You then mentioned the movie theater teaser. First of all, it's a teaser, which generally means it's meant to tease something coming later. As for people being busy during Christmas, there is obviously still a captive audience at the beginning of Star Wars. As for the teaser itself, I think it's rather odd to spend money on that myself, and have no idea who paid for it, or what they're up to. If I had to guess, I would think they want to stream the Coachella concert in movie theaters. But at this point, we simply don't know.

Lol. The rumors have been trending on the web and have made Rolling Stone and even Time Magazine.

But sure. Announcing the reunion on Dec 17 or 28 would have meant that NOBODY would have noticed.

Posts by forum members are getting reported on major music sites as news.

But an official announcement by GnR on Dec 30th would likely go unnoticed, seeing how people like to go to parties on the following evening.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said.

Coachella has announced their headliner in January for the last 10 years. It makes sense for a company to announce something big in January rather than during the Christmas holidays. That doesn't mean NOBODY would hear about it, just that they want to maximize the impact of the announcement. Are these really difficult concepts to understand?

You are the one who keeps adjusting your comments. You throw out these broad statements like they are fact. But when somebody points out the obvious holes on your comments then you resort to insults.

How about this. Everything Axl does is perfect. His plans for the reunion have been magnificent. Better?

I think you are confusing me with somebody else. My post really did not contain any insults, other than using an emoticon to show how taken aback I was at the bizarre summary you made of my previous post, which had nothing to do with what my previous post said at all.

You then move on to your favourite "Axl Nutswinger" argument, which isn't me. I think it makes sense for Coachella to announce their headliners in January. They have done so for the last 10 years. I'm simply saying it doesn't make sense to me for any company to make a major announcement over the Christmas holidays. If there is a GNR reunion in the works starting at Coachella, they will have signed a contract. Every rumour we have seen says "2016". Maybe there's a press conference scheduled, and the guys aren't on the same continent right now. Maybe negotiations were still ongoing in November/December. Maybe Axl's astrologer said the announcement can only be made in a month that starts with J. I have no idea what is going on, and neither do you. None of this has anything to do with me suggesting that Axl is perfect. Let's just agree to disagree, and hopefully we get some amazing news next week.

The important thing is obviously to get Axl, Slash and Duff back on stage together. And in the studio.

The songs would most likely sound like GnR, but it would surprise me a lot if they can still come up with blockbuster hits. Aerosmith did a nice job in the mid-90s, but mainly through power ballads. I think a song like "Pink" in the Aerosmith universe and "Love is strong" in the Stones universe would be quality-wise the type of songs they would make nowadays.

BUT, and there's a big BUT here, GnR has a huge vault. They could probably make two albums from that. With Slash and Duff making them all GnR-songs. Not like Chinese at all.

A song like Jackie Chan/Checkmate, would be a true GnR-rocker if they made a riff to it instead of the power chords.

But the "power chords" are perfect. Anyway... yeah, if the vault is huge  Slash and Duff can sort shit out. I don't care about no hits though. Slash and Duff did manage to score 2 on their own, together with Scott. (Slither and Fall To Pieces)

That was a long time ago.

Personally, I believe there is a lot of material in the vault, just going by what 4tus and DJ said, as well as many others, but there is no way to actually know. I trust what Axl said in 2006 about the 32 songs. Subtracting the 14 that were released, there are at least 18 unreleased songs left. That is if you actually believe that since 2006, Axl did not write any new songs or finished old ones. In 10 years. I don't believe that's the case.

So I'd rather have CD ll untouched and Slash and Duff working on the rest, but I don't think that will happen since it seems Axl just adds more guitar players to mostly finished songs like Catcher and Atlas where he let Bumble do the solos.
