It is an invasion. Then you might as well just invade Syria alltogether to force a peace (like we did in Afghanistan). How would Russia react to an invasion of Syria? Or other neigbouring countries? What would the long-term effect of another such meddling in the internal affairs of a Middle Eastern country be? Different to our reaction of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, I'm sure. You take over an area where there isn't fighting going on with boots on the ground and you defend said swath of land and permit refugees into the area. All of Iraq/Syria are basically warzones... it just depends who happens to control the territory at the moment......And how many troops do you think it will take to protect the huge number of refugees there are and what do yo think the logistics and cost would be to try to move food and water into these areas to support them?....you live in a fantasy world my friend....... Good news.
Len Cnut
There's been a terrorist attack at the prophet Muhammads mosque in Saudi Arabia...wow. Thats like one happening at...yknow, i cant think of a comparable analogy. How could that happen? Honestly, thats something i can truly say i never saw coming, as in i didnt think that was possible, not just a terror attack but any kind of attack there ever. Wow. To my mind, knowing that place and what its supposed to mean to muslims, thats more shocking than 9/11 in terms of sheer improbability. Why would an Islamic terrorist do that, its like...the most contrary thing possible. The worlds gone fuckin' mad. And during the month of Ramadan too. I would've considered just about any geographical location on the planet more likely a target than there. Graeme
Sunday night, I hung out with a group of Muslims while they were breaking their fast, people from Bangladesh, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan... They were all lovely and super-welcoming, we ate food and drank Arabic coffee and sang songs, I got big hugs at the end of the night. But there was one guy there who was suffering from a pretty severe bout of depression, a friend of his had taken an overdose the previous week and died, she was a young lass, only an undergrad student. This guy came into the room and wandered about in a daze for a while, kinda looking like he was spoiling for a fight, he repeatedly set the fire alarm in the building off and shouted at people that they "had to get used to the noise", then he took a big box of someone else's food for himself without asking before showing up with all his bags packed in the middle of the night and saying "I'm out of here, I'm leaving now, I'll do whatever the fuck I want and I want to go somewhere where the world is better." We got him somewhere safe and campus security at the university saw about getting him some help. One of the guys mentioned to me that he was really afraid about his friend snapping and hurting someone, not just for the sake of it but also because in any report that came out of the situation his religion would be highlighted and could easily be used to create a false narrative of violent extremism. It's made me think a lot about the way the motives for certain actions are portrayed differently in the media depending on the background of the people who commit them.
