Vegas General Help (Flights, hotels, food, shows, etc)

Where to stay, where to stay, where to stay?

What the hotels near by that have a good party scene?

Best pools- MGM. They are an all day party.
Sweet, cheers. Is MGM an actual hotel or is it a complex which contains other hotels? Realise this sounds like a bit of a stupid question.

And what about Mirage, is that any good?

Edit: forget that, it's MGM Grande I want. Just that other hotels describe themselves as being part of MGM?

MGM seems quite expensive. Is it quite luxurious?

MGM Grand is a single hotel/casino. MGM owns Mandalay, NYNY, Mirage etc....they are all affiliated. I like MGM's location and they have 5-6 pools and a kick ass lazy river. The casino is nice too and it has 10 plus restaurants. Also NYNY is just across the street. T-Mobile Arena is just behind NYNY. MGM/Vegas will be electric that weekend with GnR and the big fight at MGM.

Booked MGM grand (with the option to cancel) for three nights for £370. Pulled the trigger early as it seemed to be going up.

Thanks for the tips Estranged1.

Staying at the MGM Signature. 190 bucks for two nights, not too bad!

I've only been to Vegas once but I couldn't agree with you more. I vowed that any future trips to Vegas will be at the MGM. Fantastic hotel/casino and in a good location.

I'm staying there too, but they do have a $71 fee per night resort fee so $190 is a bit misleading. It will be more like $330.

I booked through hotels.com, it is $113 per night, then $71.00 per night resort fee payable at the hotel.

No- it's $30/night and at check out you can usually wiggle out of at least 1 or 2 of the charges...they are pretty good about it. Just about everywhere on the strip has these resort fees....it is what it is...MGM is worth it.

Yeah, came out to around 280 when all was said and done. Which is still decent for The Strip I suppose. Plus their pool looks wicked : )

What kinds of prices have people paid traveling from the UK for flights/hotels?

A good tip would be to check flights from Dublin instead. Ryanair from Manchester to Dublin is about £20 and the flights to the US are about half the price as airport taxes are so much less in Ireland. The wife and I are currently looking at around £500 return for both of us as opposed to over £1300 if we fly from the UK direct. So that would be about £250 return for one person.

This man speaks sense. Ridiculous prices from Dublin to the States. I saw £330 to Vegas last week.

If I end up going, looks like I'll be staying at the Excalibur or the MGM Grand. Excalibur would cost me about $200 less and is across the street from the venue but the MGM seems to be the place to be that weekend. Decisions....decisions.

I found a pretty good deal at the Luxor. Anyone ever stay there and how close is it to the venue?

Yep - got married there in '12!

It's a decent casino/hotel, a little dated, but not bad. Very easy to get in and out of, and a step away from the super hustle and bustle of the middle of the strip.

Probably a 15 min walk to the venue.

It's where I'll be staying Thursday-Saturday. Thursday night was $73, Friday and Saturday were $180-ish.

I know, I worked for MGM for 7 years when I lived in Vegas. My resort fee says $71.00 + $113.00 per night. I've looked on every website and booking directly. Not sure how you are pulling this cheap rate.

For those of you booking the Luxor, if you aren't strapped for cash it's worth an extra $20-40 to stay somewhere else. The hotel is ok, but the elevators are so loud so if you decide to sleep at all, you won't. Never staying there again.

A resort fee as high as you allegedly have is illegal in Vegas. This link has every resorts resort fee- http://www.lasvegasdirect.com/las-vegas-hotel-resort-fees.html
