i think Estranged had an excellent suggestion regarding suite rooms.  Not sure how many are in your crew. It all really depends on your budget.

personally I love the view of the fountains from Paris in high level strip side rooms.

The panorama strip view rooms at Planet Hollywood offer some of the fullest strip views possible, but I believe they will set you back a fair penny.  PH also has 1800 square feet suites that are awesome.

Aria and Cosmo corner rooms have great views....but not budget conscious either.

Can you get the same fountain views from the flamingo strip view room? That's what I want to be able to see.

You can...but I'm not sure they offer that as a guarantee.  Flamingo sits directly across from Caesars. Then going south on that side of the street you have ballys then Paris, then PH.  Paris and PH are basically directly across from Bellagio.  So they have rooms that they book guaranteeing fountain and it's perfect.

With Ballys and especially flamingo you would need a high floor room facing south to get a decent view of the fountains.  You may be able to call flamingo and see if you can arrange that with a booking request.

Ive stayed in all four properties, Iije them all.  I imagine the price different is going to be about $100/night more for PH fountain view as opposed to Flamingo.  If Fountain view is a must, I'd go PH or Paris.  If Fountain view would be ideal, but you'd be ok with any strip view and a few more bucks in your pocket, I'd go Flamingo strip view and try to get a high floor south facing room via a phone call and $20 tip at check-in.  Don't use the kiosks to check in.

You're not gonna want to be in your room anyways......much better in person from the sidewalk.  Then you can keep moving down the strip and drinking!

Just an additional word of warning to those on a tight budget. The majority of The Strip Hotels charge a refundable security deposit to your credit/debit card on arrival. You get this back at the end but you won’t have access to the cash for the duration of your stay.

I just mention it because it’s costing me an extra $600 (at $100 per night) on top of the cost of the room and resort fees for the 6 nights I’m staying and that probably won’t be released back onto my card for a week or so after I leave.

I’ve seen these fees quoted as high as $150 a night for the MGM Signature so just thought I’d mention it in case some people weren’t aware or hadn’t budgeted for the extra cost.

Okay, got two round trip tix from Chicago for Fri though Sun for $744 through Expedia.  Been checking every day for the last two weeks, and for the life of me that's the best I can do.  South West is still over $200 more than that.

It's usually less if you do what I did and package your flight with a hotel from Priceline. I also think it's cheaper to fly out on a weekday.

This!

Especially the part about flying on weekdays.  Friday's and Sunday's are the highest priced days to fly to and from Vegas.

Ive also heard people jetting good value by booking package deals (air and hotel together), personally I have as much luck booking Hotels and flights directly through the hotel and casino as I have on third party sights like Priceline or Expedia.  But a little leg would probably save some pennies either way :)

Yeah, you're not wrong. Thing is, we have our 1 year old at home and I'm lucky I convinced the wife to go with me for two nights as it is.  It's about a 125 cheaper to fly out on Monday...But that ain't happening.

I booked a flight from Chicago to vegas round trip.  $530(with insurance) arriving thurs at 2pm, leaving saturday at noon.

I canceled my MGM room which was $200 for thurs and $400 for friday also, you have to pay $100+ on your card just in case you use room service etc., and booked both nights at travelodge for $230 TOTAL. Included free breakfast.  Besides all of that, im all booked and ready and no more worries!!!

Ok, haven't been on this thread in a few days. Been MIA from the forum since the change just due to not being able to navigate the mobile and being really busy.

Basically, it seems that flights are only going up for me. Out of my home airport we're up to over $400 round trip, and the flight I would take from Baltimore with all its costs is $363 I believe. Can't seem to find cheaper than that.

I see a lot of people mentioning hotels. Forgive me if its been asked, and I'm gonna go back through the thread tonight and read through what I missed, but does anyone know the best deals on flights/hotels? One of the combination things people have been doing? Especially if it could save me money on my home Newark or Baltimore flight. I'll keep looking online, but it seems maybe people have found a reliable deal or website. My friend and I already have a hotel, but if we could find a better deal I'd just hypothetically see what it would be if we canceled. Right now, I've totaled myself spending about $540 round trip (round trip flight + my share of the hotel). Our hotel was $367 in total, in addition to what appears to be our $363 flights each.

Again, all hypotheticals right now, and just been MIA so I haven't been following as much. Maybe too much info there but does anyone think there's a better deal to be gotten with flights AND hotel? If so, I'd gladly entertain the option of cancelling what I have now, I just don't know where to start.

Just booked 5 nights at the Monte Carlo....arriving Tuesday night and leaving Sunday morning.  Big price drop for the Monte Carlo....I've been searching for 2 weeks and it's down to around $100 per night average for my stay...including resort fee.  Location looks great.  I got a package deal with airfare though Vegas.com.
