The British Thread

Snake-Pit

Recommended Posts

A thread for Brits and others, but mainly stuff British people might have heard of.

It occurs to me, in this internet, it's more less like no man's land, so in that, I want to set up a British thread for all things 'British'

So to kick things off, some Grant & Phil..

Who's putting the kettle on, then?

Me! I drink SO much tea, like you could believe. I must drink 15 pints of tea a day.

Oh, thank you! I do love a good cuppa. I probably drink way too much tea as well.

So we've got the tea sorted. Now we just need to queue up to moan about the weather.

This is clearly the thread to discuss naff British comedy items. I do not think you generally want or desire a discussion of a Shakespearean sonnet or Elgar's Cello Concerto?

He just wants someone to discuss Whoops Apocalypse with him as it's about the tenth time he's posted about it with no reply!

So he's sort of looking for an angle? The next thread'll be about grey haired men watch, 'here we have 'Whoops Apocalypse!' a fine example of greying men here in the form of Peter Cook

Pretty much, yeah.

Thread Title: Hemorrhoids.

Content: I've got Hemorrhoids, which is really ironic because Peter Cook had them in that really funny film Whoops Apocalypse.

The Demi Moore Thread

Demi Moore, a fine example of ladydom, incidentally with a name that sounds like Dudley Moore who was half of an influential comedy duo with Peter Cook who, INCIDENTALLY, starred innnnnnnnnn..

Sounds like an idea for a thread! Seven Degrees Of Whoops Apocalypse.

It was 1980's UK social and political satire.

The Young Ones seem to have a long association with music, and are rooted in Cliff Richards? This show features his music a lot, and even how they ended the run;

They found out that the BBC give bigger budgets for variety shows...so they stuck a musical act in every episode.  It sort of assisted the satire too, being how The Young Ones was meant to be sending up contemporary culture etc, all those variety shows they had back then, what could be more ridiculous than Motorhead suddenly appearing in a student home playing Ace of Spades?

'OHMIGOD, ITS DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS!'
