Marc- will you be in Vegas?

The Canter's that was in Vegas has been gone for about 3 years but we are in talks now to have a new one coming this in Octobor. If I am invited to the gigs, then I will go. Will see how it goes when we get closer to the date. It may be that I just see the show and then don't hang around after? I hope to repair my relationship with Axl but it still may take some more time.

I think we all want this to happen.

If he can reconcile with Slash, he can sure as hell reconcile with you I would think. Would love to see the pictures you would take on this tour!

Marc I admire how you have been a level headed loyal friend through everything that has gone on. As I read all of these questions to you many mentioning your relationship with Axl and how you'd like to repair that, I wonder was Axl even back in the 80's and 90's a very outgoing guy? Even to those who have had friendships with him, from everything I've read including Slash's book and so many other accounts, he just seems like a very private internal guy when he's not on stage or promoting something.

Sometimes he'll surprise people whether it be those random calls/emails you mentioned or one-off press appearances or q&a here but few and far between.

I have a buddy who I text probably every day about things like football, music, etc etc. Slash has his close group of friends too, so does Duff. But I never really hear about Axl's circle except for maybe Del James. No manager has really been close for an extended period of time.

Axl somehow manages to stay off the grid for years at a time and it seems like nobody sees or hears anything from him.

Again, not saying that's a bad thing just a different way of life. I always assume either he's just not talking to many people or his close friends are good at keeping him off the grid and are the quietest bunch ever. Was that ever different when he was younger? When you guys were friend was he kind of the same way or more outgoing?

Glad the relationships seem to be healing and I'm confident with time yours will too. Many times in my life things have happened that make me say "life is short," and I hope that's happening here too.

I'm not sure why you just didn't post this as a reply in the other thread where Marc made that comment. But perhaps it could be for the same reason as the rest of us - couldn't get tickets? Or, even if he had the opportunity to purchase tickets, perhaps, like many other fans, he decided he couldn't afford it?

In Calgary 2010, Axl did a little joke about this:

"...really, over the course of the last couple years, besides the band y'know, there's only a couple people I talk to pretty much on a daily basis, helps keep whatever sanity I can pretend I have - but we send each-other fucked up texts, like I get a text from him the other day that says 'Dude I saw this fucked up porn called Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, but it was in the section with no category so the next one was Bum Fight In The Old Gay Corral. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Bubbles."

I know in the past you echoed the sentiment that you won't attend a GNR gig unless you are invited because that's the way it's always been, but I mean really, you would choose to see these guys on stage because you aren't invited? Why just purchase tickets

I woulden't want to distract Axl. There is going to be a lot on his mind to do that gig in the first place, its going to be the bigest thing that he has done in a very long time, the last thing I would want is to be a distraction.

It is very clear that we disagreed whether is was ok or not to promote the old band over the last 9 years. Unfortunately that put a huge gap in our friendship and the fact that I keep on promoting this stuff the whole time doesn't help things for me. I know he is now working again with the old partnership but I feel that he still feels betrayed by me and everytime he turns around, something pops up that somehow I was involved in whether its something that I had good intentions in doing or if I got used by the press to fuck the band. Either way its me again. I would probably have to stop doing interviews and stop posting on chat boards and then maybe someday he might feel like talking to me again.

By the way I did turn down a few interviews in the last few weeks and one of them was Rolling Stone. I thought that they would just either twist my words or use only what they want to make the story go their way. It turns out it was just something about the club days so I could have help them out. I was afraid they were going to focus on whats going on now which is a good thing but I don't really feel its something that I should really be talking about. I know I have said a few things already about it but thats ok because its for the people that come here and really want to know what I'm thinking but its really up to the guys in the band to talk to the press about what going on right now. My place is really the club days. That is something that I know more than anyone else and I'm always proud to talk about those times.

I'm going to give Axl some space with this. I'm sure that 20 different people will invite me that have an extra ticket but like I said I will only go if I'm invited by the guys in the band even if I just only see the gig and then go home and not hang around before or after the gig. If I don't go then I would just check it out on Youtube. Even though its going to be something very special, and really no one is going to be happier than I to know that they are back on stage again making magic again but I would not take the chance of upsetting Axl by him knowing Im there if he doesnt want me there.

Promoting what I belive is the right thing is a lot different than being at a gig while the person who is playing the gig and you really care about doesnt want you there. No way would I fuck up that for him. One way or another in time things will be different. So I will wait until that comes if I have too.

Cool. Thanks for the response. It must take some discipline not to attend. i say you say fuck it and go.

Your'e an incredibly patient Man, Marc. It is obvious from all of your time and posts on here how much you care about Axl , & obviously Slash , and that you would never deliberately do or say anything to harm them personally or GnR.

Even when I met you years ago and sat down at Canters for a chat you had nothing but good things to say about Axl , and even Team Brazil, and that has been a constant.

Axl should consider himself very fortunate to have someone like you in his life, and hopefully one day he will let you back in.
