Mr. Dude
Great song. I'd rank it top 25 for sure.
DieselDaisy
It has the most aimless pitman fart ever. I will put up a time and a youtube clip if anyone cares but the overdub goes bililililililoooo. Apparently if you add this stuff to songs it improves them and turns them into 'art'? Apparently? nico_france
I like this song too. Even it is not guns n roses for me... it does not mean it is not good... more, it is interesting and modern music, quite ambitous too. many other songs in chinese are so good : catcher, the blues, sorry... Thanks Axl for that. It is just not Guns n roses (when you hear it, you know...)
whatashame
Riad was first played 01 01 2001 and 9 months later the 9/11 happened and people got whacko about Arabians, etc and listening to Riad ever again was the last time when I thought "wow, new GNR songs are relevant" Edited February 28, 2016 by whatashame
Apollo
100 times better than the utterly boring CD title track.
wasted
Riad does seem like an opener to me. The intro kind of grates on CD but it kind of makes the transition from Scraped less jarring sonically. But listened to seperately the intro is a nice lauch pad for blast off. A little like the My Michelle intro.

A little like the My Michelle intro. I like the intro. I like The Chinese intro as well. I think it frames the tunes nicely. And yeah, it could have been an opener. The riff is mean as hell too. Axl's delivery is top notch. Always imagined CD ll having more songs in the style of Riad. I do like how Jackie Chan gets right into it though, Chinese (the song) could have been good without the intro, but it's way more dramatic with the transition and how Axl's voice gets more intense. I think the intros change the vibe to a more Pink Floyd-esque thing, and kinda help the album feel a tad more cohesive. I remember Josh Freese didn't care for the intro for Chinese. wasted
I always thought the order might be Oh My God, Silkworms, Chinese Democracy. Chi dem would need no intro in the grungey early version it could just flow on. Even Riad, Chi Dem, The Blues would have worked pretty well. Philipm787
Always thought Chinese would have been 1000 times better without Riad, Scraped and If the World. Maybe throw on this apparently 'incredible' tune that is Atlas Shrugged and keep it at 12 tracks instead of having it painfully too long. Just my 2 cents.
