[Metallica] 'Hardwired... to Self-Destruct' \\//\\// WorldWired Tour Discussion

now that i've let the album sink in a little, i have to say i'm a little underwhelmed. when it's good it's up there with their best work (spit out the bone, hardwired, atlas rise) but the rest is a little bit "meh".

some observations:

- they sound like some of these modern pop/rock bands in places. i can't name some of these bands, simply because new bands don't interest me, but i can hear they are trying to much to sound "modern". bad thing. modern sucks.

- second half is the weaker side. some say it sounds like (re)load but i have to disagree. it's just sounding tired and dragging, while (re)load at least sounded alive and vibrant. in fact, hardwired has confirmed what great albums load and reload were. hardwired isn't

- james' voice sounds better, but who am i kidding. he still doesnt sound like anything pre "st anger"

- it's better than death magnetic, because that album had unacceptable production and james' voice sounded ridiculous in places.

all my personal opinion of course

Where are these figures from? Any idea if the number of discs impact the numbers i.e. is it 52,000 copies or 26,000 copies x2 as it's double disc? Also wondering whether it only needs 500k to go platinum as that'd be a million discs shipped (or even less if the three disc copies count). Not really sure how it all works these days.

It's not really clear, I believe album sales are counted twice for RIAA certifications. SoundScan has never doubled sales of 2cd albums. So I think you're right Hardwired is already or soon to be Platinum for 500K album sales. Along with streaming services (1500 streams = 1 album sold) and separate track (10 tracks sold = 1).
