I know it always sounds different in person, but Axl really did sound terrific and the energy was off the charts. I am so happy that even though I came home to a flooded apartment (my sink is backed up with what appears to be sewage from upstairs tenants and it spilled all over my floor), I'm still in a good mood. 'Out To Get Me' sounded particularly vibrant. My one question is the girl: what does she actually do? She is playing keyboards there, bouncing around to every song including the Appetite rockers with no discernible difference musically between old band renditions of the song, live or studio! I'm not detecting any additional layers there. Is she even plugged in? It is a legit question. Also, Axl has put on weight following the AC/DC thing. The integrity of his t-shirt around the midriff region is precarious to say the least. How is that possible with him running around on stage? Better was rough, with some voice cracks. This I Love solo went absolutely nowhere. Kinda bad. Like DD said, funny watching Melissa bounce back there to all the songs. But Diesel, he is clearly not fatter. If anything, jawline looks tighter. Go watch Aarhus vids again. Still has a gut tho. Tonight was a revelation for me. You can listen to the albums a thousand times, watch videos of them performing the same songs over and over again but there's nothing like seeing it in person with your own two eyes. Seeing Axl, Slash and Duff on the same stage felt like what I would imagine seeing my first kid being born would feel like. Gotta admit, the water works were close. Absolutely surreal bucket list night for me, I'm so happy. Very proud of Axl for the quality of his vocals recently too, he's seriously stepped up his game. I always felt female backing vocals work with GNR songs. I loved having Tracy and Roberta during UYI shows, e.g. a song like Paradise City sounds much better when there's a female voice in the chorus to cover Axl's mickey efforts.
