Either only a small part of them in the periscope's hearing chants (they prefer flat out screaming) or they can't chant in rhythm. I tried to get a chant going in my section to no avail in Toronto...young kids mostly around. I gave up.

Popular Post Gnrcane
My Review: Here is all that needs to be said. My wife was with me. She has never been to a GNR show and wasn't really a fan. The only songs she knew were WTJ, SCOM, and NR and she sort of recognized Don't Cry and PC. She had a great time, said they sounded great and couldn't get over the energy they brought. She was into every song and all the solos. Her one negative comment was that she thougth Slash's NR solos sounded a little off. She was in orchestras in college so I'll take her word for it. Here one funny comment was "why is the girl with the blue hair there?" Needless to say, I thought it was awesome. I had only seen them live once before on 12/31/91. That show was great when they were in their prime. In a way, Axl's singing was better mainly because he doesn't run while holding notes like he did back then so you don't get the choppy sounding stuff like on the chorus of Don't Cry. BTW, although I would have liked to have heard Patience I was happy they did Don't Cry and thought it was pretty incredible. I even really enjoyed the Chinese Democracy songs. They were great live. I even have them stuck in my head a little today. I really give them a lot of credit for putting on a show with that much energy in that humidity. If you put a bucket under Slash's elbow you'd have collected more water than from a roof leak. Sweat was just pouring off of him all night. There were a few times that so much sweat flew off of Axl that it looked like he squirted a water bottle. To do that in their 50's is pretty amazing. As far as Axl, I don't know if he was just better in this show or if it is a case of him sounding better live vs. on recordings but I thought he sounded great. The only really bad "Mickey" moments that I noticed was on Paradise City. I definitely got my $250 a ticket worth. If they had added a second night tonight, I would have gone back in a heartbeat (even for the same set list)! 3 hours ago, axlthepose said: I see , Was it me or for the Orlando show AXL was very talkative ? Seems the Full Packed House made them very happy . They definitely seemed to be happy about the crowd. I think it was before KOHD after he asked if we were still hanging in there that he said "there are a lot of you mutherfuckers out there." Definitely one of the tracks he was missed most on. Maybe even THE track he was missed most on. SCOM is one of those songs I rarely make an effort to check out since it's been fairly underwhelming live for a long time - but that was great. It helps that Axl is sounding much better on it these days, but the guitar the biggest factor for me.

Popular Post JimMorrison4
We were in row 1 right behind the pit. I've been to at least 150 concerts (6th time I've seen GNR). This one was my favorite, hands down. Just something else to share.. I went with my fiance and a mutual female friend (she'll be referred to as Liz). Liz had 2 tickets in section 143 and was supposed to go with a friend. The morning of the show, her friend cancelled. So we listed her two tickets on stubhub. They sold in 30 minutes. She took that money and bought 1 floor ticket in the same section my fiance and I were in (row 20). When we got to the gate they scanned her ticket... red X on the scanner. "Ma'am, this ticket has already been scanned." She had them try it again. Red X. They brought a supervisor over. The supervisor tried it with her scanner. Same thing. She told her, "go ahead in. I'll let it slide one time." Great news for us, but really odd they'd let someone in without a legit ticket (any attendance numbers you see for this show.. add 1.) We find our row 1 seats. Security guy asks Liz for her ticket. She said, "I'm in row 20 but I'm just hanging with them for a few." Security guy says, "You can stay up here. I got you." Once again, great news for us but odd they'd allow this. We watch the show, love every second, annoyingly scream every word, etc. After the PC fireworks, I wanted to try something. I asked Liz for her Nightrain fan club lanyard (she wore it after she saw some people got upgraded... STILL waiting for mine to come in the mail). I said, "I'm going to walk backstage, wait here." They were both like, "Oh ok, sure. Go ahead." I put the lanyard on and start walking towards the backstage area to the right of the stage. While doing so I actually run into Chris Jericho. He was drunk. We spoke for a moment. He loved the show. Anyway, I walked right through a crowd of 15-20 security personnel with no issue. Now I'm behind the stage. Didn't see much. Mostly just forklifts carrying pieces of equipment. I started to act like I was directing them so it would look like I had some purpose for being there. Some guy was filling a cooler with water bottles that he said were for the band. I asked him for one and he threw one to me. I hung around for about 5 minutes. I could see the stadium was almost empty and I didn't want to get separated from the girls. I figured if security give this few fucks, I could get them backstage too. I come back out and asked security to move the barricade for them so they could come back with me. The guy actually started moving it! Finally one of the supervisors noticed my lanyard and said we gotta go. Had I left them out in the stadium, I could've walked all the way to the dressing area. While this is a fun story (at least, for me, it was fun to do), all this brings up alot of serious problems. After what just happened a few weeks ago at Pulse night club in Orlando, you'd think security would be a little tighter and a little bit more on their game. They let someone in without a ticket and some random person just walk backstage. This is how bad shit can happen.

Gnrcane
A couple of things I forgot to mention in my review: KOHD is much more enjoyable in person. When you watch videos it kind of drags on. In person it didn't seem too long. Part of it might be that when you get to it at the show, you know there is only one more song before the encore so you don't want the show to get closer to ending. Axl put on such an awesome performance that it is hard to take your eyes off of him. I was on Slash's side in the 3rd row behind the pit and I had to consciously pay attention to Slash sometimes. Seeing him back was the reason I bought my ticket but Axl just draws your attention. I really enjoyed the "with your ass in the air" line returning as a surprise. Hell, if we couldn't have a surprise appearance of Steven or Izzy then at least we got something! About the comment Axl made about the guitar change. I thought he said "pause for a guitar change" but I guess it could have been "pesky guitar changes." Maybe somebody has it on video. Live it did sound a little sarcastic but who knows. Whatever mood Axl was in, he put on a great show. At least nothing he said involved a threat to "fucking all go home" like the 12/31/91 concert (and many others during the UYI tour).
