The Elder Scrolls VI

Recommended Posts

Okay, so here's what we know for sure: Nothing.

But there are many rumors, will it be Skyrim II? Will it take place in Argonia? Will it be announced at E3 in June? Will it come out in late 2016 or sometime in 2017? Will they hire some new NPC voice actors who don't sound ridiculous?

In all seriousness, I'm expecting this to be an excellent game, likely will be dethroning Witcher III as king of RPG's.

As far as TES VI goes, I hope TES online hasn't hurt it. I believe though Black Marshes aren't really accessible though in it? Meaning they'd have freedom.

Skyrim II seems like a silly idea, if they're going to re-use a zone. I'd rather they just re-do Morrowind.

Was TES Online good? Never played it.
Tbh, I'd like a remastered Morrowind more than Skyrim II (even though I didn't finish Skyrim) or TES VI

I never actually finished the main story in Skyrim. I put about 85 hours into the game, I think the last main story mission I had done was go to some temple, I want to say it was called Hyrule .... but I know that's not correct , it was with that Blade woman and some guy who I am forgetting. Anyway, I did finish the civil war story line, and got a really overpowered character, so I think I did enough in the game. If ES:VI isn't until 2017, I may replay Skyrim.

Going through Oblivion ATM, sort of.

I do agree that Skyrim II would be quite disappointing. A redo of Morrowind would be cool, that's still on my list, and it would be great to play it with updated graphics/mechanics. But I am thinking we are going to get a fully new game, it would be very odd to redo Skyrim.

You spent too much time side questing :P. Main story really is short, if you tunnel vision it you finish it within 5 hours max *if you ignored side content*. It's not a very long quest chain, actually the traveling to places takes up the most time and is longer than the story.

As far as getting OP, that's the problem with the game design. It's way too easy to get infinite cash/living up just from forging materials at the shop, then selling/repeat.

Morrowind is more broken, but more in depth with more ways to keep pushing it. You can easily create fireballs that hit everything in 50 miles and pull whole towns after you. Alot of bugs too, but alot of freedom.

I just hope they make it more similar to Morrowind:

- Less random loot quests (or none at all)

- A world with something to see, not an empty giant world with nothing to see, but repetitive landscapes.

- Cutscenes. Arena, Dagger and Morrowind had those and were great. Seeing Alduin dying in first persion, while being able to jump aorund, go naked and attack those 3 helping deities, seemed a bit too lazy.

- Real bosses: Alduin is such a terrible boss, he's basically the same dragon enemy we killed in thousands before getting there. We need bosses that are unique and not just a stronger version of a regular enemy, think tribunal's Almalexia, or even Dawnguards's Harkon.

They should also include:

- A better and longer main storyline that make the world evolve and doesn't feel like just another side quest, perhaps they should sacrifice a bit of the non-linear aspect in order to empower the main storyline and have quests that actually change the world and open new paths depending on your choices, not just some NPC or faction's opinion about you. Quests that have a before and after fator behind them.

- A more skill based and faster combat system, 10 min battles against cannon-fodder-enemies-with-too-much-HP are quite boring (having to punch down 15 xivilai on an Oblivion raid because you were a nord and had to do it in order to level up was some sadistic bullcrap)

- A real soundtrack, having a tune with a good melody won't kill the immersion, we had that on Daggerfall and Arena and it worked well, why not here?

- Better companion, or better yet, remove 'em all along. They serve pretty much as mules. they barely help in fights

- Cool dwemer tools, like space wiking's dwemer Hyperion mod for skyrim

By the press yeah sure, but it's sitting at 5.5 for PC and 6.5 for consoles on Metacritic from user scores. RPG elements are dumbed down, shooting is solid, location is dull, quests are completely unmemorable, everyone is a bullet sponge to ridiculous levels, the base building is OK but kind of pointless, I like the gun customisation, there are so fucking many copy paste quests it hurts.

It's a paint by numbers RPG with some shooting, if it didn't have Fallout written on it nobody would care. It's soulless.

Ah, I see. FO4 is the only mainline FO i have yet to play in it's entirety, and, considering your description, I see it is more of a FO3 than a NV, right?

Man, NV, albeit buggy as hell, was pretty a solid game in terms of good, game changing, interesting perks -jury rigging, anyone? (instead of those boring damage adding perks from FO3) and had a faster paced combat system.

FO3 wasn't that boring, but hitting a regular human with a MFing missile to only drain like 1/5 of his health with maxed out big guns stat was kind of lame. Do it in NV with good explosives stats and you'll one hit a lot of enemies. In fact, grenade launchers in NV were the tits, good damage and speed. Thump-Thump was a low level favorite of mine.

I actually liked Fallout 3 more than New Vegas but I think that's largely because I put 300+ hours into 3 and moved straight over to New Vegas which had a really terrible launch where bugs were concerned so that plus the playing time burnt me out I think. I also found the Mojave wasteland pretty boring whereas I really liked DC. Mechanically New Vegas was a lot better though.

I think the best comparison is between Skyrim and Oblivion. Oblivion had lots of things taken out to make it more accessible, spell crafting and the weird levelling system where you had to sleep and pick a specific stat to boost. These were a bit crap so they got taken out. This allowed Skyrim to be a slicker experience but unfortunately had nothing like the more interesting quests of Oblivion. Fallout 4 has gone a step further in getting rid of a lot of the cooler perks, now theres just do more damage, find more money, get access to better equipment, there's also interesting quests like Tranquility Lane. They also ditched the named weapons which were so great to find, now there's "unique" weapons that are the same but with a specific special ability, but there's so many it doesn't matter any more.

Hmm... the discrepancy between user and critic reviews sure is remarkable. I wonder why? I recall hearing something about critics fearing a huge backlash from the fanbase and also being paid to say it's all nice and dandy. I have no idea if any of these theories is true tho.

It's because they dumbed down the gameplay so that it becomes more accessible for a mass audience. The users (who are probably longtime fans) are pissed off at the new style while critics probably don't notice it or don't care as much.

In my opinion, of course.

I've heard of it a lot. The problem is when a critic site like IGN says bad things about a popular game it can make people stop visiting the site if they like it and therefore the site loses money. The developers might not even have anything to do with it but it's almost a lose-lose situation for them.

This is a perfect example, bunch of guys bitching at another critic for not liking the game while they all play with their £120 collectors edition stuff which they doubtless got for free.

Morrowind is one of my favorite games ever, so an updated version of that is what I'm hoping for. Would assume we'd get a new game, however.

if you have a pc, there has been a group working on modding morrowind using skyrim's updated gamebryo engine. its called skywind.

morrowind is my favorite rpg of all time and would love to see this updated version. as for elder scrolls VI, i hope they go back to actually having stats, old school style guilds, hand placed loot and completely get rid of level scaling(i fucking hate level scaling) i remember getting my ass handed to me in the opening dungeon of daggerfall many, many times lol. i doubt it would be skyrim 2, i would like to see summerset isle and see what the aldmeri dominion is up to, more of the inner workings type stuff, but i think it may be set in black marsh, since most TES fans  want to go there.

as for fallout, nothing will ever touch fallout 2 in terms of pure role playing and decisions that you could make, it was literally insane. a game where a simple quest to find and return a gold watch had so many multiple possible outcomes from good to pure evil is  just amazing. fallout has lost a lot of that(outside of new vegas) i like fallout 4(7/10) but it doesn't feel like an rpg anymore(same goes with TES) it feels like the choices are good guy or smartass good guy, there is only a couple of options to be "evil" or some shade of grey. I just miss stats and just role playing in these games.

Wow, I remember seeing that project like a year or so ago and it wasn't nearly as complete as it looks to be now. I've been getting the itch to play some Morrowind again...might just have to download Skywind and install it again

Edit: Or not. Looks like they pulled the download for now. Ugh...

First I heard of it was in 2013, if I'm not mistaken. Looking good so far.

Fallout 2 was a free for all alright, becoming a porn star for example, but it had one fatal flaw: SLOW battles. Fallout 1 had such an amazing balance in its random encounters, but every battle in 2 lasted way too much. Wanamingos, stronger centaurs (mean, if I'm not mistaken) and floaters were so resilent and couldn't really hurt you after getting an advanced power armor. finishing it sure was a test on my patience.
