HeartbreakerWoman
What are some movies that either are: 1) Considered to be bad films by most people; 2) Aren't necessarily bad films, but are thought of as cheap or poorly made, etc That you happen to love or enjoy for some reason or another, and don't agree with the majority on? IE, my list:Batman and Robin - This is indeed a BAD film, but it's so bad that it's ridiculous and thus fun to watch. I don't watch it as a Batman film, but instead as a parody of one and it works Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace - While it fails as an SW film, I think it's an enjoyable science fiction film in it's own right. Rocky IV - A ton of sequels to Rocky was never necessary, but there's something wonderfully 80s and campy about this film, even though it really has nothing to do with the greatness of the original film. "I must break you." Batman (1966) - Again, it works as a loving parody of Batman and is a nice example of mid '60s kitsch.Star Trek: The Motion Picture - derided as "The Motionless Picture" by many, I happen to really enjoy this film and consider it underrated. The only Trek movie that attempts to really live up to the ideals set forth in the original TV series.Elvis Presley movies - Elvis wasn't the greatest of actors, and most of his films are just vehicles for songs, but they work wonderfully as campy trips back in time with one of the best singers who ever lived, and they make for great turn-your-brain-off B movies. A View to a Kill - there's something so ridiculously enjoyable and over-the-top seeing over-the-hill Roger Moore take on Christopher Walken. The casting of Grace Jones sticks this film squarely in the '80s along with the New Wave opening title theme.Conan the Destroyer - A fun, campy, goofy fantasy film that's a lot of fun to watch. What more is there to say? Edited May 13, 2016 by HeartbreakerWoman spacing
Len Cnut
How are Rocky 4 and Conan the Destroyer 'camp', how are those films in any sense effeminate? They're sort of the opposite. And don't ever slag off Elvis or i'll have you killed Edited May 13, 2016 by Len B'stard

And don't ever slag off Elvis or i'll have you killed Rocky 4, the over the top acting by the Russian dude, the whole appearance by James Brown, it's a bit on the campy side. Conan the Destroyer just has always felt like a cheesy '80s fantasy movie, I love it though. Nah, no slagging, I love everything Elvis. His movies are awesome to me...But they're not for everyone. DieselDaisy
There are too many Italian cheapos and sexploitation z-movies to name - any of the 'women in prison' films from the early '70s deserves a mention. hooray for tolerance! 2 perhaps? Presley's career nadir films - Harum Scarum, Kissin' Cousins, Speedway - deserve a mention. I wish I lived in 'Elvis Presley world', a world in which all these beautiful women fawn over the men and in which song and dance are never far away. James Bond
Super Mario Bros. It's become a bit of a cult classic in recent years so I'm not sure it still counts, but it's definitely my favourite of the "films generally considered to be bad" variety. It's actually not a bad action movie, and considering the lack of attention to what little source material they had at the time it's got pretty creative story. I've loved it since I was a kid.

blackrose87
Without a doubt "The Room". Hilariously bad acting that really needs to be seen if not done so already. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368226/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Others off the top of my head: Birdemic http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1316037/ Birdemic 2 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1674047/?ref_=nv_sr_2 Ben and Arthur http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364986/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Powerage5
My band always used to watch bad movies when we were on tour. Some of our favorites were: The Room - This is the grandmaster of bad films. Everything about it is so hilariously bad, but that's why it's such an entertaining film. Final Justice - Joe Don Baker stars as a Texas sheriff who is tasked with escorting a criminal being extradited to Italy, but who hijacks the plane and lands in Malta. The criminal repeatedly slips through Baker's fingers, and Baker repeatedly lands himself in trouble with the local authorities. Enough said. Manos, The Hands Of Fate - Torgo. The Master. The god-awful clarinet music. The shoddy camera work. The awkward cuts. The lack of any script whatsoever. This was essentially The Room before The Room existed. Hard Ticket To Hawaii - There's something about dead DEA agents and deadly snakes, I don't really know. What I do know is the film is endlessly quotable, and the three female leads were all Playboy models.

DieselDaisy
I assume Mygnr has an aversion to the word because of the internet connotation, and not that it inherently dislikes the film, however this was the film whose title was censored in my above post, You can't, after all, piss on hospitality.

It's the facsimilie. They have their own culture, their own music, their own themes, their own dance, their own tradition of storytelling, their own purpose, their own guiding force...and they stuck with that for about 40 years of cinema...but it seems since then they've just become these pale attempts at mimicking western cinema and the quality of what they do suffers for it. And something about all this gets to the heart of why a lot of eastern cultures will never be what so many threaten that they will become in the years to come and thats the dominant culture. Because there's a sense of inferiority in what modern generations do based on a diet of western media and culture. And thats not to blame western media and culture because all they do is produce their culture, it's the east that feels for some reason to get somewhere requires mimicking it when all that really does it keep them secondary. It's a crying shame, not because i yearn for some eastern domination, I've spent way too much time around whiteboys for that It's a crying shame because their own cultures will never develop fully in their own logical trajectory.
