In the age of reboots, no property — no matter how recent, revered or reviled — is off-limits. The latest case in point: Steven Soderbergh's entertaining "Ocean's" trilogy, itself a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack classic, which only concluded nine years ago. Not unlike "Ghostbusters," the caper dramedy is set to be remade in all-female form, with Sandra Bullock leading the cast and Gary Ross ("The Hunger Games") directing. Rumor has it that Jennifer Lawrence is now a distinct possibility to join the franchise as well.

It wouldn't be the first time she'd worked with Ross, of course, as the actress first came to international attention for playing Katniss Everdeen in the "Hunger Games" series. Over the last few years, she and the director have also been at various stages of development on two other projects — namely, adaptations of John Steinbeck's "East of Eden" and Hannah Kent's "Burial Rites" — neither of which has come to fruition.

Olivia Milch ("Little Women") is penning the screenplay for the new "Ocean's," which is reportedly going into production this fall. You can expect many more names come up — no fewer than nine, by our count — as potential co-stars in the meantime.

Now no offense to anyone. however I honestly think that rebooting a series just to have a different gender be the leads is the dumbest thing that could possibly done in the history of movies, and there is a reason why the female Ghostbusters has way more dislikes than likes on the youtube page.

I am all for strong female leads in films.  But piggybacking on already established legendary movies where males lead is the complete opposite of "women's empowerment" in my opinion.  Come up with your own plots.

Tarantino did more for female leads with movies like Kill Bill than any of these dumb reboots can ever hope to achieve

But there is no pandering to specific demographics in Hollywood is there. Demographics who really don't care about this stuff anyways. Watch them go back now and redo all the old movies and replace all the male characters with female characters.... oh wait that seems to be happening now. All in the name of equality right?  Gimme a break.

it's so patronizing to women. "hey we can't think of any cool new original stories for you to lead and make into classic films, so here do some remakes of movies where men were once the lead roles!"

What odds that one of the gang will be a large, sassy black woman?

Probably none, but in the original Sammy Davis Jr was a big part of Ocean's 11. he even sang the title song. Those were the days. Only six casinos in Las Vegas. I can't even imagine it.
