After all of our dissecting and detective work on the boys n how they look, I think we can all (mostly agree) that Fuck it! let them wear what they want, boots and all! Good for them to not care what we mere mortals think. I'm sure we are all not the most stylist, chic statement dressers around, either. We all aren't size 2's either, am I right? Yes, they were drop dead gorgeous in thier youth, so we're we all! But, oooo time takes a toll and when I look at myself in the mirror in the morning, i sometimes don't recognize who's staring back at me. There are some anatomy and perspective issues that bug me (and I'm not too thrilled with the coloring either), but please keep not noticing these things Slash's jeans are open because... ? No idea lol. You can come up with whichever reason you prefer (Actual reason is probably because they were open on the reference pictures I used or something. And Slash's jeans used to be open all the time back in the day, so it fits.) The Slaxl picture started out as just a pencil sketch on paper. I scanned it into my computer and then colored it in photoshop. I think this is true with regards to Steven and his relationship with the other guys (he really got left behind at some point for various reasons, especially by Slash), but I can't agree when I think about the other guys' relationships with each other. Slash and Duff: These two are really close. They are basically family. They've worked together on various projects over the years, they celebrate birthdays with each other, Duff buys clothes for Slash and their children refer to them as "Uncle Slash"/"Uncle Duff". They did seem to hit a bit of a rough spot in their relationship during the VR days, but they were all on drugs again back then and pretty miserable and it was a long time ago. Obviously they worked it out and are as close as ever nowadays. Slash and Izzy: There was always some tension between these two and some fighting over Axl in the early days (lol), but if you read old interviews, Izzy always seemed worried or concerned about Slash. And they stayed in touch all these years and are still getting along as far as we know, so that's enough to call them friends for me. Duff and Izzy: We don't know much about these two, but they always seemed to get along really well too. Also kept in touch all these years and regularly hang out with each other. And Duff seems to be the number one guy Izzy goes to if he wants something done (like telling the world about not coming to the RRHOF induction via Duff, for example.) Duff and Axl: This doesn't even really need commenting on. Duff's a sweetheart and has usually (both in old and new interviews) shown a lot of empathy and patience with Axl, he tends to support and defend Axl even when he doesn't deserve it and he reached out to him, re-built his relationship with him and also helped him re-build his relationship with Slash. Izzy and Axl: I have no doubt that dealing with Axl was exhausting and frustrating for Izzy at times, but the thing that sticks out to me is that Izzy tried to check up on Axl and kept tabs on him all these years, even when Axl refused to see him. Would you keep calling and driving by someone's house in the hope of catching them if you didn't care about them? And if you watch them interact on stage in videos nowadays, Izzy seems genuinely happy (and so does Axl). Plus, Izzy apparently watched out for and took care of Axl a lot in the early days as well. And they grew up together of course. It's not one-sided either. Like @giuls said, Axl cried for hours on the phone, begging Izzy not to leave him. That's a pretty emotional reaction that indicates some kind of deeper bond. Slash and Axl: Books could be written trying to analyze their relationship, but bottom line is, they are really wrapped up in and obsessed with each other. They've both talked about loving each other, they've both compared their relationship to a marriage (and to divorce), they write songs/albums about each other, they stay up entire nights talking about their feelings, they used to sleep in the same bed(s), Axl went crazy trying to make Slash stay and never really got over him leaving, and Slash seemed pretty crazy as well to outsiders with his Axl obsession. They both were way too bitter for many years to simply be colleagues and now they're back making heart eyes at each other again. So I think whatever they've got going on there (and no matter how healthy or unhealthy it is) actually exceeds the meaning of the simple term "friends". Because they were friends before the troubles set in, at least, Axl & Slash were friends, they said themself they loved each other, you don't get obsessive and pur your heart out to the other or stay up to listen more than once with people you didn't like once upon a time, Axl & Izzy too, Izzy said himself he went to Axl's house to check on him after the band broke up and they seemed truly happy to be on stage together and Axl isn't a good actor, Duff was friends with everybody, i can maybe see it with Slash and Izzy because there was an element of tension (IIRC Slash said he wanted to pry Axl from Izzy's hands) and i can see it with Steve but not with the others. Plus, Axl begged Izzy to stay in tears and when Slash left Axl went crazy and called everyone close to Slash asking them to convince Slash to stay, this is the reaction of a man who is afraid because his friends are abandoning him, imo, Slash wrote an album about Axl, it seems more deep that something set by the fact they lived together. TL;DR I don't agree. Sorry @giuls, I only saw your post after I'd already typed half of mine. I don't really think they could muster the necessary neutrality to be only business partners, there's too much history between them.
