There's no one to try extra hard for like boss Angus and I'm not being sarcastic. He will get paid and have fun regardless. He sounds good enough to warm up his voice as the tour progresses. When he takes a break his vocal chords respond accordingly. It's similar to working out. He doesn't like that which is why he's chubby. I just don't see Axl singing Guns tunes in his down time. Not that type of a singer. (you can call him lazy) The motivation is just not there to sing Guns tunes with no crowd like a fuckin' asshole. I agree that the problem is about the motivation not being there, as I agree with the people saying that he doesn't care anymore. But there's definetly a point in rehearsing for GN'R too - his voice is not the same, and I'm sure nobody is asking 90's Axl -I know I'm not - but as I said he could do much better if he rehearsed, if he learned to sing his own songs in a way his voice can deliver. Again, I don't think he sounds like shit, he sounds ok, but like I said with reahearsals he could be phenomenal - Axl/DC showed us that and as the tour goes and his voice improves it show us that also. And I don't think it's only unfair to the fans who go to the first concerts, it's also for the rest of the band. I bet Slash doesn't like to rehearse SCOM over and over, but he does, he gives the best he can and the rest of the band too, proof is the tempos from yesterday show were so much better. Why? Because they rehearsed. Just think that Axl could at least try to do the same. (Oh and welcome to Women's Thread ) 4 hours ago, Archtop said: Its unprofessional, is he lazy or unmotivated possibly but it's nothing new and his not going to change so I don't understand why people still get emotional about it. I don't think it's about getting emotional, it's about him being your favourite singer and you want him to succeed so bad, but all you see it's him wasting something that used to be magical by his own decision/ lack of care. But I'm with you, I don't think he's gonna change Edited January 22, 2017 by dgnr

Popular Post Blackstar
On 21/01/2017 at 1:27 AM, Frey said: And that bit: "Did Axl tell you that his father sexually abused him? (They're asking if Axl had already told him about that in the past, before he went to the media with it).Yes, I knew about that. We've known each other forever and know each other very closely. There's so much going on around us that we simply have to talk to each other about stuff to deal with everything. We're normal guys and not machines who go on stage like robots to play." This confirms the "Axl told Slash all of his deepest, darkest secrets" theory then, once and for all. But didn't Axl supposedly only figure that whole thing out during his bullshit therapy (or maybe a little before that when he had that sudden flashback/epiphany/whatever you wanna call it while driving his car (I think it was @Blackstar who posted a quote of him talking about that?))? But Slash makes it sound like has known for quite some time here, like it's something Axl told him years ago. So...??? Or maybe Tom Zutaut was right after all with the fucked up shit he said about Axl's stepfather (that awful story in the BBC documentary) and Axl had told Slash about that. And only later on Axl also suddenly remembered/found out about the thing with his biological father. If Zutaut's claims are true, and that was the kind of thing Axl talked to Slash about, then his freak-out over the whole MJ thing that was brought up again recently is even more understandable to me. I think Axl said that, before the epiphany while driving, he had nightmares and some blurry memories since he was a kid (and his parents were telling him that the devil had put those thoughts in his head ), so it's possible that he had talked to Slash about that. But I'm not sure if Slash implied in the interview that Axl had told him the story years ago; maybe he just meant that he and Axl were close for years, so they felt comfortable to open and talk to each other about personal stuff like that. Axl had started 'therapy' more than a year before he went to the media and he may have talked to Slash some time in between (Duff mentioned that Axl was talking to him too about his 'discoveries' through the 'therapy'). As for what Tom Zutaut said, I doubt it has anything to do. The story itself is incompatible with Axl's behavior for a period, when he thought that he could reconcile with his stepfather and be best friends with him; it's explicable if he was trying to find excuses for his stepdad for beating him and being oppressive (that he was doing it for Axl's own good etc), but not for sexually abusing him. There's the possibility of another buried memory, but then he couldn't have talked to Slash about it. There is also something else in the story that seems strange: the place where it supposedly happened (Zutaut said it was in the airport toilets, didn't he?). As far as it's known, Axl's family didn't travel outside Indiana; I think his stepfather was from somewhere else (Ohio?), but it doesn't seem that they went there to visit relatives or relatives were visiting them. Anyway, regardless of what story Axl had told Slash and how long Slash knew, and even of whether the story was true, what matters is that Axl believed it and he was very sensitive about it, so Slash should have it in mind when he decided to play with MJ. ------------ Btw, there is an Axl interview from 1987 which has been on youtube for a long time from what I see (it's also on this gnr site), but I don't know if it's broadly known (I haven't seen it posted or discussed elsewhere apart from the above mentioned site). It was for a Japanese magazine and apparently the guy who did the interview uploaded the recording (there are many other interviews with musicians from various bands in his yt channel). I think it's an interesting interview, and Axl was in the mood to talk. There are 5 more parts (it's about an hour): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaQRSSgD1UI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGGp6wCDIws https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWeAtm3Ry94 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBpySAxAXvg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ackB4jfDXuM I transcribed the part where Axl talks about Indiana, which imo is is indicative of how naive he was (he was at the phase of being 'best friends' with his stepdad) and also of his state of mind when he wrote OIAM: Axl: I just got back from... I just got in yesterday, ‘cause I’m from Indiana and I’ve not been there for about two or three years and I wanted to go back to visit my family and my friends [...] that was hectic [...] I had a moment of free time. Interviewer: So, why did you decide to sit there [...]. Axl: Well, just because I hadn’t been back in two years and last time I was back there -at least two years, two and a half years - I just told myself ‘I’m not coming back till I get the record out’ ... you know, just to keep away from people who say ‘oh, you’ll never go anywhere’ and stuff like that. ... Interviewer: You’ve been always known as the rocker there? Axl: A bit, yeah. But you have to remember that in Indiana people are really opinionated and biased and things like that. So I have an open mind and listen to a lot of material. But listening to a lot of material, you know, you listen to The Rolling Stones then you’re a fag or... people think like that back there. They call you all kinds of different names depending on what you listen to, and since I listened to everything I was called everything in the book. Interviewer: Things were still that way when you were growing up... you’re not that old. Axl: No, I’m 25, I’ll be 26 in February. Interviewer: So even ten years ago people were still thinking like that, huh? Axl: Oh yeah. Indiana is really closed off from the rest of the world. Maybe not from Chicago so much, but even Chicago... it’s a huge city but it’s not like you’re in L.A. or New York or in Texas or Florida. The Midwest is like keep itself to itself and everyone else has a problem. That’s how they look at it. They don’t venture out in the world. People from Texas, they go to L.A., they go to New York for vacations and stuff, but it’s not like that in the Midwest. People don’t get out too much. Interviewer: What do you have to listen to be considered normal there? Axl: Well, it used to be Lynyrd Skynyrd and Aerosmith which... I was amazed at Aerosmith, because Tyler wore makeup and back then that was... but for some reason it was okay for Tyler but not okay for Mick. It’s kind of weird, but it was a certain group of kids, a certain group of people and they grew in numbers and they had a big influence on me. Interviewer: You think that sort of conservatism led you in the direction of where to go in, was it sort of a backlash? Axl: Yeah, but after drawing from the conservatism itself, I found places where I could be considered a conservative... I’ve drawn from both sides. I always work at trying to put things back together ... because a lot of times... why I say ‘back together’ is [because] people will have an opinion and so immediately before they’ve even met they’re not together. When I say ‘back together’ means that we could be friends maybe in five years, we can work it out to be able to understand each other. I talked to some guys I’ve gone through every year at school with and we didn’t really understand each other until this time. And they weren’t just being talking because I was a rocker, they were talking to me because they finally had some respect for me. And they were ... well, it’s not just full of crap... because so many kids there talk about being in bands, they talk about getting out, but it’s all talk, so it’s all wishes and pipe dreams. No one really goes out and puts their balls on the line. Interviewer: Why is that? Axl: [They’re] scared. It’s easy to live at home in Indiana with your parents and work at your parents’ job and stuff like that; it’s what everybody else does. Most people don’t take a step out. Interviewer: For you when did the big break come, when did you decide you were gonna bust out them all? Axl: Well, when I got kicked out. When I got pulled to leave. When I was told ‘cut your hair’, I said ‘no’, they said ‘go’, I said ‘I’m leaving’. That was when I was 16. But now my dad is one of the closest friends I have. It’s taken us ten years both to have that kind of relationship again. But we’ve worked it out little by little and it isn’t so happening just because of my band thing, it didn’t just happen this year. It’s been coming back together in the last five years. Interviewer: You’re being his son, he must assumingly understand your rebellious spirit, ‘cause I’m sure it did exist in him as well. Axl: Yeah, I was telling a friend just recently, that still has hard feelings against my father, I was telling him that one reason dad was so hard on me was because he didn’t know I was following the things that he taught me to do, you know, to go for your dreams and things. He thought I was messing up... At this point the conversation is interrupted because someone brings Axl's dog and then they go on talking about the rumor of Axl killing his dog . In the last video there's a brief mention of Axl's problems with the police in Indiana as the reason for him not wanting to return and live there again. Two other interesting bits in the interview (I'll try to transcribe them later) are when Axl says he has to watch over Slash and when he talks about how he views himself in the band (which shows that he kind of saw GnR as his band from the start). The interviewer mentioned those bits to Duff and Steven paraphrasing Axl, when the band went to Japan a year later (the Duff-Steven interview can also be found in the guy's channel), and they reacted badly...
