MB.
Yet Axl wearing a Manson shirt was totally fine. This is totally hilarious. Most AC/DC fans are midle aged and so not Satan worshippers, the opposite actually. Haha, you should see the town Angus has a house in, in my country. It's so boring and 'normal'. I saw in a documentary once, his wife makes him soup and all and living a very very normal life. I am a huge AC/DC fan, and eventhough I want Brian back, Axl is doing great. He is obviously honored to play with them and for a reason. AC/DC makes me laugh and that's what they want, make people happy. Their music is not serious, just simple fun. Niven totally lost it in this interview
Tadsy
Off topic, but i agree with him (kinda)...about the AC/DC thing but for different reasons... yeah at first i was like.. this is gonna be cool to see him doing something different and helping them out to finish their tour.. but i really hope it doesnt end up a permanent thing. Especially if it is going to detract from the chances of A) new music with Guns. B) touring outside the US... But as for his reasons... hes a looney. ps, agreed with his point on Civil war and pissing away his prime.. that stuff is true.
Silent Jay
We will have to wait a few years before any GnR songs come out anyway. The time is about regrouping and they will be touring worldwide this fall and next year.

Popular Post The Archer
7 hours ago, Oldest Goat said: They're not Satan worshipers though? Holy fuck. 8 hours ago, Klay said: I can relate to Alan point of view, despite the fact that musically it's a brilliant collaboration as AC DC never sounded so good. To bad they're satan worshippers, ruins it for me as well. They definitely are NOT satanic. Angus with his devil horns, is as much a devil worshipper as the 'God Bless you' shouting 'Sabbath bloody Sabbath' singing prince of darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. A lot of the negative publicity in this regard had to do with the 'Highway to Hell' album, as @highvoltage pointed out. The 'promised land' that Bon screams about is not some sort of Satanic utopia, but the good old US of A, that he and the band had now become big enough to tour after years of struggle. The imagery of the HTH album cover, with Bon wearing a pentagram and Angus sporting devil horns, a horned tail and a sneer, was done in fun, but also to hype the album. Unfortunately for AC/DC however, the last song on the album, Night Prowler, in which Bon sings about sneaking into a girl's bedroom at night, had lyrics that channelled a vampiric level of lust, and was sung with sufficient sneering menace, that it supposedly, at least in part, inspired a serial rapist and killer named Richard Ramirez, who WAS a Satanist, and who had coincidentally been nicknamed by the press as the 'Night Stalker'. Ramirez was a fan of the band and apparently left a cap with the AC/DC logo at the scene of one of his murders. This was no fault of the band however, but it did actually make them more notorious and gave them more publicity. It helped that their music was great and that kids at the time (including a then teenaged Uncle Axl) loved it. Also, Highway to Hell was followed very quickly by Back in Black, but in between came Bon Scott's tragic death by misadventure, after a life of hard living, women and lots and lots of alcohol. The Band's vicious defiance in the form of the title song and 'Hells Bells', spoke first to their determination to keep going on in the face of tragedy, and was also their defense of reprobate living in the form of the lyrics 'If Good's on the Left, I'm sticking to the right' (which wrongly comes across to many ears as 'If God's on the left, I'm sticking to the right', thanks to Brian Johnson's vocal cord strangling screaming), and was also about the inevitability of death for a hard life, in the form of ''If you're into evil, you're a friend of mine...Satan get you'. These songs, as well as the whole album, were as much a tribute to Bon and his rebel spirit and Rock N' Roll lifestyle, as they were a funeral dirge. As do all good AC/DC albums, HTH and BIB, their best albums back to back, spoke of simple things and had simple themes - Rock, Rockers, Rock N' Roll living, drinking, women, lust, fucking, a Fuck You attitude, and having a great Rocking time. They were not about Satan, the devil, or hell. But, the darker tone and the lyrics and the unfortunate circumstances around them, meant that AC/DC became tarred with a reputation for what they were not. Unfortunately, this is when AC/DC also became linked in the press to 'Satanism' and 'ritual' murder and became a target of the PMRC, the Parents Music Resource Center. Pretty quickly, in the eyes of some deluded bible thumpers who burnt their records for public spectacle, the letters 'AC/DC' stood for 'Anti-Christ/Devil's Children' and this inaccurate expansion of the acronym soon gained widespread traction. AC/DC, was of course named after the letters on Angus' and Malcolm's sister's vacuum cleaner and stood for Alternating Current/Direct Current. The band adopted the name, because 'AC/DC' denoted electricity and power. In fact, Malcolm had to go on record that if he or his band had anything to with Satanism his 'mother would kill him'. But for the most part, AC/DC have just ignored all the innuendos and slander. For them, the music is about channelling fun, youthful rebellion and energy and they do what they do out of a real, abiding love for Rock music and what it stands for, as well as for all the fans that believe in them. In fact, they always deliver when it comes to doing what they do best - foot stomping, gut kicking, fist pumping Hard Rock N' Roll. stella
Yes, thank you very much for that history, @The Archer. It puts it into perspective and makes it even more ridiculous that Niven is going on that way.
wasted
The point is that AFD was in the highway to hell and that's what everybody wanted. Axl was the one who wanted to change and try to heal himself. But Axl has struggled to get this across but there hasn't been much interest. Just constant criticism of it not being rock n roll etc. Slash is not some paragon of virtue, he's more dangerous than ACDC, AFD is a much more sinister, corrupting record to middle America than CD the geopolitical break up album is about as political/spirtitual as you get. But also I just think the symbolism of the devil's horns is just fun at this point. It's like Halloween. It's just an escape from reality, to get the party started. DC are a cartoon. So after 20 years of Axl trying to stick to his principles he finally gives up watches Mad Men, does a Bud ad and plays with ACDC which everyone wanted. Everyone wanted Guns to be ACDC as I understand it. Well here it is. And when he dies everyone will sell his soul for buck anyway. Strange Broue
Is this for real? Alan Niven is still butthurt because of Night Prowler, therefore Axl joining AC/DC tarnished his legacy as a second hand Bob Dylan, because he is running around under devil horns? (let's be honest, guys and gals: Civil War is almost entirely a cliché song, it's a good song, but the lyrics are hardly visionary or something and Axl already tarnished his legacy as if he was his generations representative rockstar which is a moot point anyway) i don't know how old Niven is, but he sounds like my grandpa (he could be 86 this year....) This is the lowest from Niven, imho This is just screams attention seeking and severe butthurt in the inner rectum combined with extreme stupid bigotry Gee, he really wanted this reunion gig... Niven opened our eyes; we know now that Axl sold his soul to the devil to get his voice back He made a pretty good deal if you ask me... If you can choose that being a true Christian and slowly becoming a washed up Mickey Mouse or choose Satan and got your talent back, there isn't really a choiche, imho The biggest irony in this is that Ronnie James Dio invented the devil horns as a cultural symbolum, yet his name means "God" in italian He was 10 times a true Christian soul than Niven would ever be
