For me, it stands in the same league as the rest of their catalogue. Yeah, to be honest I'm baffled that The Getaway has gotten such rave reviews and IWY gets shit on. IWY had killer melodies, it had a great single (Raindance Maggie was fantastic) and even the outtakes were stronger than much of the new record. I will give The Getaway some more repeated listens, but for me so far, this ranks lowly in my list of favourite RHCP albums. Who knows, maybe it's a grower? Towelie
Just given the album a THIRD spin and it's just a bit dull. A couple of pleasant songs is the best thing I can bring myself to say about it. Sick Love and Go Robot are good, Detroit is cool, the rest is very underwhelming to my ears. The title track is a disappointing album opener which is a shame, because the Chili's usually always knock it out of the park with their album openers. And I think the album lacks a really good single (sorry, but Dark Necessities is only okay). In some respects the album reminds me of One Hot Minute, a real mixed bag which seems to not really know what it's trying to be. Here's how I rate their work: 1. Californication 2. Blood Sugar Sex Magik 3. Stadium Arcadium 4. I'm With You 5. By The Way 6. Mother's Milk 7. One Hot Minute 8. Freaky Styley 9. Uplift Mofo Party Plan After a few listens I couldn't see myself putting The Getaway higher than number 8, maybe as good as Freaky Styley at a push. Zeppelin
At first I thought it was a decent listen, but I just have no desire to hear any of these songs again. That's not really a good sign for me. There are so many albums that have come out this year that I really want to go back and hear again and again. But this one just falls flat after a couple of listens. Not enough here to really bring any enthusiasm. Oh well.
Towelie
Okay, I feel like a bit of a knob, but the album has really grown on me. Still don't think it's as good as IWY, but it's a decent set, if a bit of a slow burner. Best songs are The Getaway, Encore, Sick Love and Detroit. Still not completely sold on Dark Necessities though, even though my missus loves it (and she hates the Chilis). gt72
For those of you going to Rams season opener vs Seahawks (I'll be there)sounds like we will get a chance to see RHCP perform a pregame show.Assuming it'll be 2 or 3 songs as they suggest being in stadium a half hour before kickoff to catch them. Black Sabbath
Friend of mine wants to go to the Philly show. May end up trying to get GA tickets closer to the show. Edit: doesn't look like they have GA. That's fucking stupid.

rocknroll41
Do any RHCP experts on here know if they'll do another tour through North America anytime soon? Id like to see them again and take my dad this time, cause he wasn't able to make it to the shows the last time they came around here. I know they haven't really announced any new US dates yet, but judging by their past tour history Id assume they'd do another run before this current album cycle ends, right?
