For fans of MBTI and other psychological type theories - post your type and discuss the theories here.

This thread takes off from @Ender04's and @sanity_lost's posts on type theory and the debate about Axl's MBTI 'type' in the 'Can we comprehend Axl better...' thread in Civil War.

IMPORTANT - Please do NOT discuss Axl's, or any GN'R band member's pyschological type or your theories about them in this thread, and instead take those to the aforementioned thread (I request the mods to enforce this, so that this stays in Anything Goes)

Feel free to discuss and debate type theory, its development, application and validity. If you've taken a certified formal assessment or an online personality test, post the results and also specify how, why and and where you took the assessment/ test.

Information about the MBTI assessment and similar tests

The MBTI (Myers Briggs Type indicator) - is an assessment that is based on the theory of evaluating individual preferences to determine psychological type. It is formally administered by CPP (consulting psychologists press) or by certified professionals. For more info and to take the test -

KTS-II (Kiersey Termparement Sorter) - is an assessment that is based on the theory of evaluating displayed traits to determine psychological type.

Online personality tests - Many online websites offer free 'personality' tests that provide results using MBTI acronyms. These are not certified MBTI assessments and do not use the framework developed by Myers and Briggs. They follow a traits based approach similar to KTS-II.

INFJ was the first I got. I think it was probably the Keirsey II Sorter, but it was a long time ago as part of a class. I probably have the booklet stuffed in text book somewhere in a box or on a shelf. I've done various other tests for different classes and "career development" for work the first few years. I am always an introvert, usually an "N" over "S", often bounce back and forth on the Thinking/Feeling, and I sometimes get "P" over "J". :shrugs:

They are interesting, but have their issues, I think. I imagine most people aren't just one thing or the other. If you are pretty balanced and fall close to the borderline in the spectrum then is easy to shift categories just by ranking a couple items slightly differently. This is just with my experience of them- I haven't studied the details of the personality testing/sorting or whatever you call it, so take it with a grain of salt.

I'm INTJ.  I'm always testing in the middle of the J and P scale, but I lean J in how I like to organize my life. I took the official test at the start of my carreer, in the early 2000. I tested INTP then. Since then I took some different, unofficial MBTI tests on the internet and I always test INTJ/P.

I do like MBTI a lot. It helped me accept the traits that I have that I wasn't very fond of, as well as it made me realize what my qualities are. This did stenghten me. I'm proud of who I am, I have let go of some things I used to think I should change (like be more extraverted) and started to be more understanding toward others (amongst things, INTJ's tend to be somewhat judgemental <_<)
