Perry Farrell: "Jane's Addiction is as great as Guns N' Roses, some may argue we're greater."

Ilove how butthurt fans get over someone's opinion. If Perry had said GnR are the greatest band of all time the people whining like babies would be praising the man for how smart he is. Some of you look like assclowns every time a celebrity mentions GnR. You either become their biggest fan or their biggest hater depedning on how you percieve what they said about GnR. Talk about fanboysim and not thinking for yourself

Funny, I just saw JA at Coney Island. I'd gone to see dinosaur jr and stuck around for JA.

JA had their diehards, for sure. So, those people would likely argue that JA is greater than the Beatles, let alone GNR.

Me, I watched half the set then left to wander the boardwalk with my pal.

JA just played a 2000 seater in Philly.  I've never understood the appeal of JA but did really like the first Porno for Pyros record.

Artists sniping each other is never something I understood.  There's no need for it and they're all fighting to make a living with music.  It also alienates the other bands fans in terms of growing your audience.

Only people with inferiority complexes feel the need to exalt themselves over others, blowing their own horns for glory. Timeless art speaks for itself.

Fuck that freak Perry Ferrell and fuck Janes Addiction. That's all...

I think it's a huge compliment to the band.  Like others have said, GN'R are now considered one the the greatest rock n' roll bands ever again....right up there with the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Sabbath, AC/DC, etc.

The fact that he's using GN'R as a milestone is awesome, imo.

I certainly think it was meant as a compliment to GN'R, but at the same time it's not a good look to brag about your own band the way Perry did. If you are legitimately great, you don't have to say a fucking word about it. People will know and say it on your behalf. You don't see Robert Plant or Jimmy Page running around making comments like that. They don't have to. Likewise with Mick, Keith, etc.

He is right though that GN'R was popular and legitimately good, which is not always the case. Plenty of other popular rock bands from that time period were absolute shit and music hasn't stood up over time.
