Stranger Things // Netflix Original Series

Recommended Posts

Me and my girlfriend watched the whole season in two days and we both loved it.  A great series with some very heavy Stephen King influence that reminds you of the classics with modern day effects. My one and only complaint was that it could have used a little more blood and gore but great storytelling none the less.

I just finished watching it today. Agree on the Stephen King influence, even the type face at the opening credits suggest it. Love the intro music too. I don't know if it ended as solidly as it should have but it was one of the more entertaining shows in a while, the kids were the best part of it. I'll probably be in the IMDB forums for a bit trying to get my head around what I just saw. I love the details they had for the setting of the '80's and how it's set in Indiana (hey Axl/Izzy)...

Binged watched the entire season in the last couple of days. Such a good show, I was hooked about 10 mins into the first episode.

Wish I'd savoured it a bit more, will probably have to wait a year or more for the next season. :max:

Loads of cool references/homages in it and I probably didn't even catch them all.

Great show, fun to watch. Many cool references. I particularly liked Twin Peaks references, like the gate to parallel dimension in the woods, and especially that scene with Will in front of the mirror in the last episode, got me back to Dale Cooper bringing out Bob in the last scene of Twin Peaks season 2 :)

Also, a very silent hill atmosphere :)

I don't get the Twin Peaks and Steven King comparisons tbh, other than that there is supernatural and government stuff going on.

The shots, the execution, the plot, and the various subplots all reek of classic Spielberg to me. Close Encounters, Super 8, Jurassic Park, ET, etc etc.

Unlike Spielberg, who usually doesn't dive too deep into terror, the show manages to balance tween adventuring and high brow sci-fi horror without fucking up the tone.

The execution of the show is just flawless.

I applaud how it has that sentimental 80's feel to it. Not just in the production, but in the way the characters carried themselves and interacted. That was the show's strongest asset.

Although I was satisfied by it, I did feel it was sort of underdeveloped in the later episodes. Matthew Modine is a perfect example of this. His Dr. Brenner character never got to do much and we never saw much in the way of his personality.

It was alright, hyped way too much though.

i caught it as it was starting to pick up real steam, so it didn't come off as overhyped to me

i thought it was great and im not even into the Sci-fi thing. i like the whole 80's vibe also...im a wannabe 80's baby.

I avoided this show for a while because some mouth breather told me it's a kids show but goddamn was it fun. Nostalgic as fuck and I wasn't even alive in the early 80s . The kids did a pretty good job acting but they really knocked it out of the park with the soundtrack.

Have just starting watching this..anyone who was coming of age in the 80's (er, not that I was ) will love this..totally nostalgic as everyone has said..E.T, Stand By Me, Close Encounters, it's all there! And yes, the soundtrack is killer. And I even enjoy just looking at the Stephen King-esque font/typography, whatever you call it, of the title itself. Great show.

Totally disagree, I love the fact that they held back on the gore and kept the modern horror 'torture porn' aspect out.
