The BAND Guns N' Roses (except for its singer) has nothing to do with Chinese Democracy. They didn't write nor record the album.

The album was indeed released under the Guns N' Roses BRAND by its owner, Axl Rose, though.

Those two are undeniable facts. Then, whether you care about music or you care about brandings, marketing and irrelevant legal shit it's up to you.

The other fact is Guns N' Roses have three members now and two of them didn't play on the album (as well as one of the employees. Two of the other three employees barely played in some little pieces of it). But yeah, Axl and Dizzy played on the whole record. If you think Axl and Dizzy are Guns N' Roses, more power to you.

What do you consider Guns N' Roses?

And then can they play a tight two hour gig, cut out all the fat and just kick ass for two hours with just one guitar solo break and Duffs punk song... and if they want to throw in So fine, Axl can have another break... I'm generous like that :D

Why are people calling Chinese Democracy songs “covers”?

Because they were not written/recorded by GNR ?

By the way, Inglewood '91 is still the longest GNR show ever, and judging by how they're handling things, always will be ...

If we say Slash and Duff are playing covers of Chinese Democracy material now, it means they also covered Hollywood Rose’s Anything Goes.

GNR’s history is too complicated to get wrapped up in semantics.

Oh sweet lord in heaven

I do not know why Rose couldn't agree to the performance of an Anastasia or Slither to readdress the lack of equilibrium a bit here, as it does feel like Slash and Duff have been, ehh, compromised sexually haha. When Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young play, they craft a setlist which includes solo material from all their respective careers as befitting their equal status.
