I see a good amount of posts in this thread of different people who DO seem to be bothered about this. Just because YOU dont get bothered by it, doesn't mean everybody thinks, acts or feels same as you and that we all should remain in silence because it is not "our business".

Not everybody takes a selfish approach in life. Respect other people's business of getting involved in the business they want to

Yes, it is nice they upgrade people to the pit and I am aware they are not only young, female fans. But how many people get upgraded per night? I see only 3-4 maximum.

These are like 50 models in front row, required to be there by the band.

I never said "they care only about hot young female fans". I said that requirement sounded crappy to the eyes of any regular looking fan, whether female or not.

I wasn't disrespectful to anyone here, I just said I don't think this is any of our business. I apologize if you thought that was offensive. There are so many great things happening with this band for you guys to waste time being upset over this. You turn everything into an argument, so trying to avoid that I won't be making any more comments on this thread since my point was made and apparently, I'm selfish. I'll say one thing tho - I'm not judgmental of every little thing people do and if you ask me, that's why we get so little official information on this band (including the lack of interviews).

It doesn't look like ALL of the models were enjoying themselves like they were "paid" to do...

Check out little Miss BoredAsFuck on the rail above and try to tell me that it was a good idea to invite her!

Ha!!!! Priceless!

how does the front row thing work? do they basically reserve spots along the rail for these models? that is a joke if that is true and it is making me question if I am going to see GNR in the future

GNR was never about art, it was all about dirty hard rock. It doesn't surprise me they are doing more of a Motley Crue approach than a U2 or NIN approach. They are a rock band that sings about girls and sex, although Axl had a pretentious and pompous phase he realized in the end that GNR is just a hard rock band and he's just a hard rock singer. I don't listen to GNR expecting art or beauty or anything complex. Axl's solo album Chinese Democracy applies on this too.

Not even sure why this is making the news.

This is literally standard practice for almost every live event, television show, awards show, concert, anything that involves a live audience and a camera, where the audience may be seen. Anything being broadcasted to television or recorded for dvd. It's called "Casted Audience".

How do I know??? I work in Film and Television, I'm on sets every day, and I see it every day.

Google it.... Casted Audience.

You don't have to be a model, you can sign up for it. GNR wanted model types, so that's who got called. If you're a metalhead looking biker dude all inked up, and that's what a production is looking for, they'll call you.

There are plenty of events where they do cast the audience specifically to appeal to a certain demographic, and any production assistant who is seating people at a talk show, etc. that offers free tickets certainly is mindful of the look the show wants to portray when they're seating people. The ones who seem more appealing to the show's demographic get the seats where they're more likely to be on camera. And I've also seen seat-filler offers for some fairly large concerts.

IMHO the difference is that in those situations - and I've been at talk shows, Jimmy Kimmel when Axl was there, etc. - it doesn't come with backstage access and the afterparty. In fact it's usually rule #1 for extras and seat fillers that they don't mingle with the stars. If they're there to work, they're expected to feign enthusiasm.

The "casting" here doesn't seem to make sense. They want gorgeous models for the afterparty? Roger. Hiring dancing girls onstage again? Right, if that's what they want to show off. But what good does it do for the concert DVD to have a front row of models who aren't really into the show and look completely bored?

By saying this is not our business you are discouraging everyone of their right to feel bad about something that is clearly upsetting to the fans and also by making everybody feel like they are over reacting to something that should be accepted and not looked down because that's the way it is. Because GN'R are our bosses and we should never discuss or argue decisions that seem to affect the fans.

Some people are saying these models block their view, are noisy, don't pay attention to the show or distract them by constantly walking in and out of their spots. How is that not of our business if we are paying to see a show and we have a group of obnoxious attendees ruining it for us?

I did not turn it into an arguement. It started like an arguement since the news were posted and apparently it has happened in more than one show. I'm sure that if your show would have been ruined by some of these people you'd be here complaining like everybody else. But you said you don't care about other people's business. :shrugs: (probably only until it happens to you)

This is a discussion forum, I think, so discussion has to take place. There's only ONE great thing happening with the band: the #notinthislifetime tour and as far as we know, shows are going pretty smooth for the band and the audience. So all the threads in the board will have to be about how cool this or that show was?

lol so now we don't get information or interviews from them because we are judgemental?
Are you basically saying it is OUR fault that they are so secretive about their plans?

Right.

It makes no sense because they DO HAVE the right fans they need to show enthuasism and interest in the songs and the shows.

Why does the show of a rock band basically conformed by old guys have to be about pretty young girls in the front row? I'd understand if this was Justin Bieber's show or one of the pop artists who are on their prime right now and actually fit more in the collective imaginary of a hot new artist with hot young fans.

But this collective imaginary of pretty young girls going nuts for guys in their fifties only exist in GNR minds. No one is thrilled by looking at a couple of old guy-young girl. It is mostly made fun of.

It sucks because Guns N' Roses was not about that. They were never Bon Jovi or Motley Crue. They wanted to be taken seriously back in the day. Now it seems it's not that way anymore. It is about the looks of the audience rather than the music-

I'm not disagreeing with you. And the sad thing is that if they were trying to show that "hey, GnR is still relevant, Millennials and Gen Z like us!" they still didn't need to do this. Plenty of Gen Y and Z people actually DO like them - there were a lot of younger people at the show I attended.

I loved the photos they shared on social media of the enthusiastic Nighttrain fans who won the seat upgrades and the cross-generational fans that they'd spotted at the shows. They're a band that's liked by lots of people in their 50s, 40s, and 30s. That's not a bad thing.

Of course it's not bad. Not everything has to be something appealing to the teenagers or youngsters.

It seems it is a problem within the band, or more probably Axl, with the acceptance of him not being 30 anymore and the acceptance of fans growing old as well.

I don't see other bands ashamed of their fans like this one. AC/DC does it great, they don't need to hire stupid models, their videos of fans are the best, there are people of all ages and none of them look fake, fabricated or paid to be there.

I posted this in the LA thread, but this is the right place

Well its time to have a sex change then?

I still don't get this? Slash has a gf, Duff has a wife, Fortus is also married, Frank also has a gf, Steven is married too, then all these models for Axl?

What have these models done to get free tickets?

Some of us here are hardcore GNR fans, we deserve to get free tickets, there are so many fans who save for months, travel from different countries just to see the band.

What is so "Cool" about these models? Just send them directly to Axl's hotel room?

It actually makes me really disapointed..... these deadbeat models will be at the next kanye west concert doing the same thing.

If there is free tickets to anything... give them to a real fan who will remember it for life.

I do not understand why people are defending this! I'm certainly not bothered about the policy sitting now on a computer in England, not having attended this tour and with no foreseeable plans to ever attend this tour, but I could certainly envision a scenario in which I could theoretically be bothered. Imagine the scenario: you have splurged your life savings on a ticket - and we all agree that these tickets have been rather at the high end? You've went through the whole complicated ticket procedure, involving as it does presales, refreshing endless webpages, etc. You then travel a great many miles, navigating the various logistics of travel - from a different country even; you queue up in advance to get an  agreeable position, then just as you arrive at what you thought was your (thoroughly earned) position, a bunch of models are escorted by a lackey (I expect that is how it operates?) to a place in front of your position, clearly non-fans who have not paid a thre'penny bit for the privilege. They then proceed to enjoy the show in a way, only a bunch of late-teenage - early-twentysomething girls with no possible interest in Guns N' Roses could enjoy a Guns N' Roses show, i.e. looking bored, using their phones and getting drunk.

(Probably they'll get free alcohol also, while you are paying extortionate amounts.)

What would you do if you got a free front row VIP pass for Justin Bieber (insert act which you have extreme indifference about)? Probably similar! And how would those fans behind feel about you, looking at the back of your smug head? Similar.

Funny you mention this... i literally just bought tickets through the telstra pre-sale for the sydney concert.. and im now broke as! lol

I got 5 x GA Gold standing tickets for $184.00 each. which from the map, is about from halfway on the field back to the end.. so as someone else explained to me last week, ill be a long way back.

Tickets for this show are definitely on the higher side.

So when something like models being escorted in on the free and in front of the real fans who scrape enough together to see their favorite band (hmmm sounds similar to a lyric in a song but it escapes me ;) ) then yeah... it pisses me off. If they want to give tickets to real fans, hey... if your lucky enough to get one... by all means... good luck to you... but im not interested in a fucking model on a blue ray at the front of the crowd.. i want to see the boys tearing it up..

and anyway.. if i wanted to look at hot women.. id hit youporn or something...

just my opinion ;)

Its reeks of desperation to me, and like others have said it comes across cheesy ala Motley Crue and the like.

Seeing as no one (from what i've heard) has had any sort of benefit from signing up to nightrain, it would pay to allocate these sections to those members - then maybe get in vip and invited models & shit to fill it up.

The shows are good, but it all reeks of money money money (which is fine, but a little more decorum about it would be appreciated).
