Carburetta
Mcbob made BBC6 music news his morning, good publicity if you ask me. Dissappointed this mammoth crowd weren't rewarded with Coma but sounds like everyone had a great time regardless, being tardy (if they were) was slack though for a show of this magnitude. I don't think Axl will make more than 500k-750k per show, which well deserved for Axl. I'm happy he can pad his account for his eventual retirement. Shame on you. We need them to be broke so they'll have to keep playing.

After one lap around the world I hope the band will create new music. I don't see the point of another tour without a new album. It would feel stale and I don't believe the demand would be high. This demand for this tour is powered by the fact that an entire generation has never seen the Axl/Slash combo.

Funky.Monkey
Did Axl Rose demand police escort to Melbourne concert? GUNS N’ Roses fans were kept waiting an hour at Tuesday night’s MCG show and it seems we now know why. A source has told the Herald Sun Gunners frontman Axl Rose refused to leave his Crown Towers hotel room unless given a police escort to the concert. It’s understood the rock star took one look outside his window at the traffic below and refused to budge without police assistance. His band mates, who were already at the venue a few kilometres away, pleaded with him to make a move with the 70,000-strong crowd growing increasingly restless. Victoria Police spokeswoman Kendra Jackson confirmed a request for a police escort was received on the night, but it was turned down. “A request was made and a risk assessment was conducted. The request was denied,” she said. To make matters worse, while obviously aware of they city’s peak-hour traffic snarl, when they finally took to the stage the band confused Melbourne for Sydney. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victoria/did-axl-rose-demand-police-escort-to-melbourne-concert/news-story/1e35d99cc09789cc915bc99e9d3ccf4e

No traffic, no taxpayer funded police escorts. Simple.
Popular Post killuridols
11 hours ago, IncitingChaos said: I see your point, maybe I'm saying that Axl's instrument is the more unique sound being the singer. As great as Slash is I have found most people don't know enough about guitar to understand fully how good Slash's sound is. They understand that it's Slash and he's an icon, but when you go to a show Axl has a way of stealing the attention, which makes him a great frontman. I can't say for sure one way or another. I thought as hard as Axl tried to make nugnr irrelevant people still came out in large numbers to see that band bc of Axl. Slash did great with VR and after going solo with Myles he did good. So I guess for everyone it's unique in who is more important to the band, I've always given the edge to Axl. I thought nugnr could have worked in a big way. Its hard to explain, but over the years the friends and family I've brought to the shows or have seen them on this tour gravitate towards Axl when talking about how good the show was. Personally when I went to Vegas I thought Slash was incredible (albeit Axl was in a chair) and saw personally that this piece of the Gnr puzzle had been missing for too long. I've seen them through nugnr and the reunion though, I know the history of the band quite well, so for me and others here Slash is irreplaceable to the name. Sorry to split the fence here but you did make a good point, I may have jumped to Axl's defense a bit much. I guess it's all unique to who the fan is and how important guitar is to them or how important Axl's voice is. I think you can go to a show and appreciate both equally, but I still have to give the edge to Axl in being able to steal the show with his voice and the way he pulls people in as a legendary frontman. I've seen the nuGNR band and yes, I can assure you that 100% of the people there were to see Axl.... and how he managed to do it without Slash But then I was in the two shows in River Plate and whooah ... the presence of Slash was INMENSE. Everytime he was introduced or he had a solo, people went out of their heads to applaud him and chant his name. He's so respected that I didn't believe my ears. That was my real life experience. Then I saw many shows through Periscope and YouTube videos, the good quality ones, and it seemed to me that Slash was very much applauded, especially in the first Vegas show when he took a while to get onstage because of some problem with the guitar. That's when I realized most people who attend this tour are going there because of Slash much more than Axl and you can feel it and here it, the way the guy gets ovation everytime he plays a solo and at the end of songs. Also, never felt like people didn't know enough about guitars as to appreciate Slash work. I don't know shit and I can appreciate how great he is.... Just by looking at his fingers on the huge screens at the sides, you see this guy is a maestro and you dont need to be a guitarist yourself. Slash is very popular among people, much more than Axl. He's not a Buckethead.

The moments that grab our attention are unique and leave an impression. Im a fan that gravitates towards Axl but can appreciate how great Slash is. I think there are those that are the opposite. In the end having both on stage at the same time makes them who they are

In the end having both on stage at the same time makes them who they are I gravitated towards Axl too and that's why I went there and put up with his nuGNR and never left ship when it sunk in 1993. However, that doesn't prevent me from realizing why so many people wanted this reunion and I have ears that hear very well, even when I don't own any Slash solo album or didn't care to follow his solo career at all and I own just a couple of songs from his Velvet Revolver band.... man, I was there in the middle of that hug mess and I was surprised, and my eyes were open by this crowd who almost took a bow to Slash with every chord he played. Axl's notoriety for being crazy and late and a jackass has really worn off. He's nothing like that on stage anymore. He's sometimes like a happy dude, makes jokes, smiles and makes funny faces to the crowd. I dont feel like the whole show is on Axl's shoulders anymore, like it was with nuGNR and probably thats why during those shows he didnt look so happy and if you compare videos and pictures, he's a total different guy. The show is great now because of the entire band being great, but I really don't feel like Axl steals any show because he does nothing out of the ordinary anymore. Big part of his singing is not so good and he doesn't run around the stage like in the old times, so there's not much to see about Axl, except for when he walks to your side of the stage and yes, people do get excited for seeing him because of course, he's an icon. But that's all there is to it.

But that's all there is to it. Slash has gotten better with age. I think he's fairly been awarded a lot of love over the years Bc he puts in the work and has continued to do better Axl could have taken better care of his voice. He could have worked like he did to get ready for 06 his whole career but he didn't. And the jokes about him you could say are fair or justified. He didn't work for a great second half of his career. Vocals versus guitar are obviously two different things so we expect the vocals to fade as time passes. I agree with you, Slash is brilliant and a true force on stage. Axl carries an unmistakable presence. I cant be mad at anyone who thinks one way or the other.

IncitingChaos
But I seriously don't get why being 45 min late is a big deal. Axl was an hour and 15 minutes late to the show in Arlington last year in front of 50-60,000 people...no traffic issues, no problems getting in. He just wasn't ready to come out. i still remember sitting there and then all of a sudden you see a golf cart come out of a tunnel from behind the stage, a guy with a flannel wrapped around his waist jumps out and sprints up the ramp on the side, as soon as entered the tent behind the stage the lights went off...it was 10:15pm, he then proceeded to give an incredible performance so nobody cared.

77Jesters
I was there, flew home late last night, will put some vids and pics up soon enough, and scribble up my version of a review, but long story short, I didn't care about the delay, was timed perfectly for me to get back from the toilet and bar! But I was seated (for the first time ever!) not standing, swaying and sweating etc.. The Sydney call was a fuck up, but people around me just laughed it off, with a couple of shouts of "it's Melbourne, dickhead!" or words to that effect... Wolfmother sounded like shit from where I was, but Guns mostly noticeably better...

nj_prettytiedup
If anyone was filming from Duff's side of stage during KOHD I would love it if you post the video. I want a closer view of Axl bending to get something (a rose) thrown up from front row. He then takes it over and puts it in Richard's shirt. Would love to see it closer than in the vids currently posted. Thanks
