The novelty of Slash and Duff's return has well and truly worn off.

It was the anti-climax to end all anti-climaxes. It was mildly exciting/entertaining for the first handful of shows, but less than a year into this reunion, it's gotten real old, real quick. Anyone else agree?

If I could've picked how I would've liked GNR to go down in 2016, between getting a new album from the Ron/Ashba/Fortus lineup with a sprinkling of Finck/BH, or alternatively, have Slash and Duff return for the sole purpose of just extending the corporate touring for another 2-3 years, I would've told the latter to shove their reunion where the sun don't shine. At least when Slash was with Myles, we were getting new music from somebody in this sorry excuse for a band.

It is for the people who go to the shows. It is basically the same show, so people go to their version of that very same show for the live experience and no doubt enjoy it. If you are watching the youtube clips and stuff I'd agree - there is little of interest - but the tour is not aimed at those fans.

They just got back together, give them time to do a tour to test the waters. As of now this tour is about building trust between the Big 3 and having fun.

There will be new music, Axl has confirmed several times. I predict 2018. This is also a lineup that he and management want to keep around for a long time.

The novelty hasn't worn off, it's only getting started. ;)

I am still amazed at what is happening, and enjoying the regrouping. I dip in and out of some of the periscopes just to see how they are doing, but I'm not avidly watching every show, perhaps this is why it hasn't worn thin. Yes I would like to see it done differently, (full reunion, less covers more deep cuts) and I would like to see a new song tested in the set here and there, building up to an album release.

I believe that once the current dates and European tour is over, they will have to pull something out of the bag if the wish to continue at the same size venues they are filling now. I don't  think the novelty of Slash/Axl back on stage again would carry them on a second round.

I've been careful not to watch every show with an air of entitlement which would slowly but surely eat away at the sight of those three onstage together again. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this band play in my city in a couple of months and i'm pretty sure it will hit me then, live in full effect. Are they going to make music together again?, well that's the million dollar question that keeps this reunion very much still intriguing for me also.

Keep in mind what happened to Van Halen when they did the second and third tours - the interest dropped off in a big way, even with having a new album out, but the past two tours had them digging deep into the back catalog, and just like GNR there's not a massive back catalog.

The only thing "new" is Slash and Duff doing the ChiDem songs, but Slash has put an interesting spin on songs that people thought you HAD to have 3 lead guitarists for.  Keep in mind if some of the fans are bored with hearing the songs, how do you think the band members feel after 3 months of rehearsing them over and over, even if they've played them thousands of times? The audience reaction is the only thing that keeps GNR going, thankfully they booked Vegas and Mexico around Coachella, because the interest at Coachella seemed pretty chilly and meh, but those two shows also played into covering the expenses of rehearsals prior to that.

Of course it gets old if you watch every fuckin periscope or youtube video from all the gigs.

I'm still waiting for the band to come to my country and havent watched periscopes or youtube videos, for me it is still good, but I rather have an album with Slash and Duff than this tour.

that sounded somewhat bitter, Towelie, and i think deep down you agree.

although i see where you're coming from. and i guess to a certain degree you're right.

but why the disappointment. ok, seeing slash and duff play the same setlist over and over and over...gets old pretty fast. but only if you watch every periscope.

for people who only watch one concert, it's an otherwordly experience.

i haven't watched a single clip of "wich you were here" or "the seeker" since they returned. can you believe that? the momentum will be massive when i go see them come this summer and hear these songs for the first time.

and also, we don't know what's ahead of us. i expect some surprises from uncle Axl and his crew. they have a track record of surprising us when we expect it the least, the sneaky bastards.

Just remind yourself with this monstrosity and the reunion comes up smelling of roses, no pun intended,

Don't see much of a difference from then and now tbh. Same ropey vocals, same tired setlist, just with a different guitarist and bass player.

If I could pick how I would like GN'R in 2017 it would be  Axl/Slash/Izzy/Duff/Adler lineup celebtating the 30 years anniversary of AFD and at the same time making a new albums together with brand new songs

I disagree. I'm still blown away by it when I see new YouTube vids pop up of the 2016 shows. Hearing Axl finally sound good and seeing him look good while on stage with slash and duff, of all people, is still a pretty great thing imo. And the fact that Steven pops up every now and then makes it even better. Only thing left is for izzy to make a guest appearance somewhere at the same time as Steven so that everything can come full circle.

i honestly don't even think I need a new record at this point. But to each their own.

You have to be kidding? The moustache; the levitating piano; DJ Ashba! Vegas casinos!! What exists now is superior in every which way. The whole 2011 -15 period was one big joke.

Yes, let's get real here.

No, it's not the GUNS N FUCKIN ROSES of 1989 but get a grip, Slash and Duff back is the best thing in GNR land since 1993.

It isn't perfect, they need Adler and Izzy yes but come on now, did we just forget how fucking awful the NU GNR thing was overall?

What the fuck was Axl thinking when he let DJ Ashba join his band called GNR?

None of those things have anything to do with the music they are playing. I don't give a shit about flying pianos, Vegas residencies etc, I just want a band that makes new music. I was bored watching Axl sing those songs in 11-14 and I'm even more bored watching him two years later still doing the same ol same ol. Jesus Christ himself could take over axe-duties and I would still feel like gauging my eyes out watching one more rendition of SCOM for the 2428th time.

I would agree to an extent. I did see 3 shows so I may be a little worn out and broke. My issues are the venue size/ticket prices, while I understand why their doing stadiums I hate attending that large of a show. And charging $200 plus for a ticket when I just saw slash a year ago for $60 and I was 10th row and nuguns I saw 3 years ago for $50 for a lower bowl seat.

The lack of pyro during LALD bugs me, having the bang with no flames is stupid in my opinion. Even McCartney uses pyro during those parts (when I saw him in 2010 he did anyways)

even with my complaints I'll still probably see them again when/if they roll threw town again
