Fitha_whiskey
Post your country music feelings here. I love old school country music. Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, etc. Hate is understood and strangely welcomed.

Fitha_whiskey
The making of this thread falls squarely in the category of "things that seemed like a good idea when I was piss drunk"... but wasn't.

There, I said it. Yeah, he's got a few songs I like. He's one of the few new artists that I can listen to. He's pretty old school.
The Real McCoy
I much prefer the new stuff. I've worked in country radio for the past decade.
dontdamnmeuyi2015
Never ever liked country music especially when I lived in New York. Now I'm in Texas and I really really hate it. It is boring the subjects they sing about are totally stupid. Hate the accents and really hate it when they wear those stupid big cowboy hates! I got to get the hell out of this state! lol
J Dog
Love the old stuff. Hate the new stuff except for a handfull.
J Dog
Fun fact...Waylon started out playing bass for Buddy Holly. Rode with the band in a van that night instead of taking the plane with Buddy and them.

It's obviously there. In Buddy's singing as well.

Hes not even mentioned much in the rockabilly sphere. Actually people generally discount the value of the contribution of country music to rock n roll. Gospel too.

It's actually quite funny if you think about it, this rock n roll thing, which at its height was considered like...this left wing freaky subversive thing actually comes from yokels and Christianity, praise Jesus, where WOULD we be without him? Yeah, you can hear it all over his work. Even in his big hits you can hear hints of it. Waylon was from Lubbock and it's no coincidence they helped bring out that rockabilly sound. Wanna hear some good bass? Waylon plays top notch bass and many songs thump and groove. For all the shit it gets (and has become) country is actually very original. Like the blues, hip hop, and early rock n roll. Elvis had tons of country in him. Good little watch if you got 5 minutes.

Very true. Johnny Cash grew up on gospel and was arguably the most influential country artist ever for rockers. 2 hours ago, J Dog said: Yeah, you can hear it all over his work. Len Cnut
The greatest country singer that ever lived, Hank was the full package, he had the voice, the chops, the songs and he lived the fuckin' life, dead at 30 something having lived as a fuckin' hard-drinking hard-fucking man of the road.
