I never get tired of watching that, he looks so handsome?

Same here. Love that video and that style on him. Honestly, I find him as hot at 50 y/o as he was back on the 80's-90's.  And the fact that he seems to be having so much fun makes it even better

Sorry I'll try to control my fangirling

I can't believe I'm about to actually defend Axl but does anybody else get the vibe that Slash is the problem nowadays? He's the only one that doesn't seem happy lately. He used to do interviews all the time and now it's complete silence. Just seems weird...

I rewatched the Axl & Duff interview the other day and when they were talking about Izzy & Steven, Axl didn't seem mad at all. We all know Axl. If he had beef with Izzy I don't think he would've responded the way he did or could've hid his emotions. Maybe I'm way off but my gut feeling is that something happened with Slash. Maybe Slash asked for more money last minute and that's why Izzy's share was cut?

If we believe what a certain person (that shall not be named in this forum) said, the reunion was close to fall apart because one of the big 3 asked for more money at the last minute. So...

I could be very wrong but I don't think Axl is the one responsible for not sharing the loot.

I think Slash isn't giving interviews for the same reason the rest of them are mostly silent- there is a gag order in place.  The incident with Slash seemed to happen (if it happened) right before the final deal was signed and Coachella was announced (December?) which makes sense- everything would have to have been in place with the three before that announcement. According to the "insiders" Izzy was in rehearsals after the announcement and there seemed to be genuine surprise when he said he wasn't involved in the April shows. I remember Eddie Money posting that there had been some sort of breakdown between Izzy and members of the band. My guess is he was signed up to do the April shows and then decided he wanted some sort of equity in GNR INC and Slash Duff and Axl said no so he pulled out of the shows. Art Tavana alluded to that on the podcast about his article as well.  Anyway, I doubt it was Slash more than the other two.  And all of this depends on if you believe "insiders" or not.  Speculation.

I do think that Axl probably thought he was letting Izzy off the hook by being vague and not saying it was about money, but hoo boy that didn't seem to go over very well. Very little has been left to chance in this whole thing and Axl and Duff should have been better prepared to answer that very obvious question.

Letting Izzy off the hook, more like letting themselves off the hook which I don't blame him. Too much shit to explain.

I still think Axl looked very funny talking about it, he almost had a malfunction.

Duff was cracking me up throughout that whole video. I've never seen him look so uncomfortable. And that was before they asked any of the awkward questions.

I don't know about Slash and I don't believe much of what a certain self-proclaimed "insider" says, but I agree that Axl didn't seem angry. And it's not the first time he has talked this way about Izzy. He had said exactly the same in the interview with Eddie Trunk in 2006, when they were in good terms.

They both looked terrified and jumpy as Hell. It made me nervous to watch. It's weird because they both (even Axl during his manic periods of yesteryear) used to be fairly calm and articulate in interviews. Needless to say I don't think the old gag order will be lifted and it will be a long damn time before we see Axl and Slash sit down together.  The Machine will suck every bit of fun and spontaneity out of this thing lest the boat be rocked and the cash flow dries up.  I wonder what Duff thought of Axl's answer- "Good, way to avoid the real issue," or "Oh, shit."

Judging by his face and holding his breath I'm pretty sure it was "Oh fuck..." I wonder if either of them got a phone call from Izzy and "got the corn" so to speak after?

I hadn't read that Taz interview before but just allow me to say, this is one of the sweetest things I've ever read

About a week after that initial conversation, I come home and there's a brand new acoustic guitar on my front porch with a note that says, "Write it down." I started writing and that's the music you heard at my show at the Single Wide.

Such a nice gesture. He seems like a very good friend.

He's a really big fan of the Internet.

Please don't read here. Please don't read here.:smiley-confused2:

There was a time when Slash, Izzy, Duff and I got together a few times and recorded some stuff. I think it was Duff who called it Four Wheels, No Axl. But none of that stuff ever got released.

Between the GNR vault and all the interviews we have seen from people over the years the guys must have so much unreleased material. I wish it would all come out already. Maybe do some big box set for the 30th anniversary and release it then. Or just throw it up on itunes...

Thanks for posting that interview, Downliner! I haven't read that one before. Taz seems like a funny & cool dude and that Izzy guitar story was very sweet. Izzy always sounds like such a good friend to people.

The machine?

N' Who is the big fan of internet tht You talking about?

Izzy is a big fan of the internet, although I think the guy meant releasing music wise.

The machine = the music industry. I take it from what we know, Izzy likes to keep it real, y'know like just go and play music, no need for the big production and all that. The planes, the hotels etc..

Of course a band as big as GnR obviously cannot escape most of those things now, not taking a swipe at them. They could do some unexpected club shows though, like they used to, even the Axl band used to. We'll see, they might yet.

The best thing they could ever do would be Troubadour again but with Izzy and Steven this time
