I was doing it for the fans. Imagine, for a moment, if he had said yes. I asked him to doing a Q&A with me live on Twitter. This would have been the perfect time, perhaps in history. It would have been live, direct to the fans, no edits, and no bullshit. Every few days fans will ask me to interview Izzy. Well, I tried. I failed, and I did it on the heels of winning an award for the Izzy story so I THOUGHT I'd take advantage of the opportunity. I let it go after a few Tweets. I hardly hounded him and just so we're clear, when I did my story on Izzy, I never knocked on his door or invaded his private space or bothered him. Of course I could have been A LOT more forceful. But there's a line...I never cross it. I would never do that. Also EVERY respectable rock journalist in this country asks Izzy to talk, all the time. I just did on Twitter. Which was ballsy. No PR. No managers. No "reps." Maybe Izzy appreciated that? I wrote the best story I could possibly write and it's never easy to do something like that without making people feel uncomfortable. It's the nature of my job. I don't like asking people to talk to me, but I do it, not just for the byline, or money (I assure you this is not why!), but I do it for history and because I'm lucky enough to have a platform to be able to do it and write about he heroes that created the music we all love so much. I'm a historian. We HAVE TO DIG. I will keep writing about GN'R. Hope you guys dig it. If not, that's cool, too. And fuck it, life is short. I treat Izzy and everyone else the same way. I don't hero worship. I treated him like a man and he didn't want to talk. Fair enough. I've now moved on...until he changes his mind --- perhaps he will. Perhaps he won't. We can dream, no? It's just gonna be more of the same that we've had since the NITL tour started, only in a smaller venue and with a livestream. MAYBE Steven will show up (if the sighting rumors are true) for a guest spot. But apart from that... pretty sure nothing exciting will happen. Stizzyfan01 Posted July 20, 2017 Share Posted July 20, 2017 Everybody is making such a hoopla over tonight's concert I think a lot of people will be disappointed.. people are saying Izzy and Steven have been quiet on social media and media.. this is typical Izzy where you here from him then he disappears for awhile.. Izzy probably has nothing to say so why tweet.. he feels he doesn't have to tweet before every concert saying he is not part of this concert.. like he said he is not part of it and he is moving right along with droning.. I wish he would tweet just one picture of him droning..I hope he shows up and someone puts on YouTube the video of him. But for to pay for a flight, hotel and whatever else to play a few songs I don't see that happening.. I see Izzy being a guy that is careful with using his money. He doesn't just throw it away.. tonights concert is going to be a mess anyways.. if they play an appetite song it wouldn't just be the 5 of them it would be everybody in the band minus frank if Steven is there.. it should be the original 5 and only them on stage.. If you remember Axl did not want to go the induction ceremony because he wanted to chose and have the power. if someone from here is going and the savior Izzy is there please take lots of pictures and videos of him and post it on here.. when I get up tomorrow morning I will check here for any updates Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
