[Question] What version of Argentina 92 is this?

34 posts in this topic

Yesterday I found this video on YT. Sound is different from the common versions of this show. It doesn't sound so flat, Slash is louder (better mix in general) and it has crowd noise. In summary, for me, it gives you a GNR live performance feeling. But I couldn't find a version with this audio. So I would like to know if we have a Video / Audio bootleg sounding like this. This is the video.

the Arg92 tv broadcast has different audio (f.e. much more crowd noise) than the leaked soundboard recording - which seems to be from a DAT/Cassette plugged into the soundboard directly, not a post-show mix. the tv mix is a lot better, we just dont have a mint stereo source for that, just as Argentina 7/17/1993 tv audio.

Thanks for the info! And does any of the authored DVDs have the tv broadcast audio?

EDIT: I've just seen that the version authored by you, Limulus, has the tv audio, so I'm downloading it right now

Alright, so I've been working with the audio of your version and joined it with Neo's image, this is the result

The first YT video is an unauthored version, the only authored version I've found with tv audio is the one authored as "Limulus"

Neo's sound is from a leaked unmastered soundboard recording, Limulus' is from tv broadcast audio.

Wich one is better? Depends of you, I personally don't like Neo's sound.

Neo:

Pros

-Sound captured directly from the sound board

-Stereo

Cons

-Bad instruments mix

-Feeling of not being a live recording

-Axl's voice and Slash guitar doesn't sound "sharp". Drums sound like plastic.

Limulus/bootleg with tv audio (don't know if any audio bootleg contains it)

Pros

- Sound mastered and mixed by the tv channel

- Feels like a live recording. Instruments sound sharp.

Cons

- Mono (don't know if the original broadcast was in stereo, but no stereo recordings of that source have surfaced)

- Worse lineage

We would like to know if it contains the tv broadcast audio or the leaked soundboard audio. To check it just put the beggining of Jungle, if you can hear crowd noise and in the "You know where the fuck you are?" axl sounds distant (basically, if it has the audio of the gibbo video posted some posts before) , then it's what we are looking for. Being a silver cd I think it will contain the leaked soundboard audio, but who knows...
