Did Axl rip off Aussie band The Screaming Jets with Better?

Recommended Posts

They said you'd never get anywhere,
Well they don't care and it's just not fair
That you know, and I know better.
They said you'd never get anywhere,
Well they don't care and it's just not fair
That you know, and I know better.
(Yes I do)

No one ever told me when
I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better
No one ever told me when
I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

Not even with a lot of good will.

Completely different lyrics, different melody....

No but he and Bucket did bite pretty hard from "Archives of Pain" on Shackler's.

I don't think they bit hard, only mildly chewed a little. I can see why the verse riff sounds familiar because of the progression, but Bucket did already use an almost exact rhythm pattern and similar progression to Shackler's verse riff on Praxis' song Metamatic, which happened to be released the same month 2 weeks before "the Holy Bible" album.

There's that Who song called You Better You Bet. I always thought that it had a similar circular lyric. Mixed with Head like a Hole/SCOM.

The thing is "I shoulda known better" is well used phrase. There was a time is too.

I mean other than the chorus part "You know that I know better", and that's an extremely big grasp for straws, I'd have to say "No, not even remotely".

Ever since I was a little kid I used to say "you know I know you know I know you know, you know?"

I'm suing both Axel and the Jets.

I know you know you know better

You know I know you know better

Now you know me better

Who remembers the first leak of Better in 2006 when the second chorus had these lyrics instead of what we got on the album? That demo slayed imo. I definitely prefer it to the album version.

On topic, no it sounds nothing like "Better"
