Some thoughts of mine from topics covered in the last... I am not sure how many days? I've had a crazy week and have just now completely caught up on the forum . This is the last area I get caught up on.

Some topics that were discussed that I am going to barely brush because it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I want to state my opposition just to get it recorded into prosperity :

Beta and Fam?  A-Okay by me.

Is Axl Crazy? I don't about crazy. But I'd swear that at one time Axl was kookier than a cocoa puff. Whatever was going on he seems to have settled down. Whether this is because he has actually settled down, is on meds or simply has he has better minders is up for debate.

 

Now two things I felt the need to reply to because they caught my eye. Just some random thoughts here:

To the bolded. I think I'd have to disagree with you. Swallowing an entire bottle of pills because you are in an argument and completely stressed out and want it all to end is not an accident. Suicide isn't usually so much about wanting to die. It is about wanting whatever you are finding unbearable about life to stop.  (But only disagreeing with you about that specific point as that is what caught my attention.)

As for Axl's good behavior lately, I think it's a combination of some desire to want to prove himself, an agreement with Slash/Duff not to do the stuff that used to drive them crazy and, honestly, wanting to impress Angus. 

Craif Duswalt said that Axl never went sightseeing when he worked for him.  However, back then he really couldn't because he would have been mobbed and I think there's a little Axl-ego that thinks it would still be that way.  Initially I thought,  "Well, maybe we just don't see pictures of him at these places", but that's just ridiculous. By now, there would be some sort hint ---a glimpse of his elbow or him in the background, a reflection - or something that he was at one of those places.   Kind of like the picture on Susan's camera roll that was recently noticed.  

One thing to remember is that Axl has been around the world many times. He may have seen all the sights he has wanted to already and if he hasn't it has to be much easier to fly under the radar and visit the places when you are not expected to be there. He stayed, what, four months in China at one point?

I don't think your thought that "Well, maybe we just don't see pictures of him at these places" is all that ridiculous. I'm not saying that he hangs out a lot with the rest of his bandmates, but if he is there and the people around him know that he does not want to be in the pictures posted online then they probably take care not to have him in it. It is simple courtesy. Plus, it isn't like he never goes out. In Singapore he was out and there was only one picture of him with a fan. If she hadn't recognized him or if she had recognized him and simply respected his space then we would never know he was there and assumed that he hadn't been.

Now that I'm a bit older, not old, but older, looking at GnR videos Don't Cry, Patience, etc...I still see how F)(king hot Axl was. I now feel a little creepy, though, I'm lusting after a 20 something yr old when I'm .. years old now. Anyone else feel this way? There is no doubt he looked like such a beautiful perfect gorgeous man with those curved up lips, strong jawline, bedroom eyes....see, it's creepy.

Here, guilty.  It's still incredible to me how beautiful he was. From the first days in 85 up to 93 was his heyday. And yes, that's about 30 years ago.

it is the JW Marriott Marquis hotel.

Hmm... Not really, you're not lusting after a 20 years old guy because he's not that age anymore.

He was perfection back in the day but I don't think there's anything wrong with looking at his old pics and videos as a way to remember what once was our teenager years.

I'd feel creepy if I found myself checking whoever guy is hot for teens in this time and era, like the Jonas brothers or Bieber or the One Direction boys.

 I think it is an assumption we've made based on how miserable he looks in most photos  and the fact that the only pics we see are either official pictures or ones taken and shared by fans.  We rarely (if ever) see him in a casual picture like the Thanksgiving picture.  Even in this pic (  )why wasn't his face in it?

I don't think he ever said that, at least publicly, he hasn't. But he may have stated or told the band members and their partners that he doesn't want to be part of their daily social media postings. I think he wants to control when he is seen, where and how.

Its weird though, because there used to be lots of pics of Axl hanging out with the nuGNR members or going out in the places he visited from past tours. But from this tour, there has been nothing too memorable.

I guess the only picture of Axl and Duff and Slash together is that one with Baby Metal  but that is backstage, work-related stuff.

And there was a lot more with ACDC in Europe than with GNR anywhere. So yeah. It's a mistery to me

I know this is a rather feminine way to look at it, but hey Axl can get quite feminine! Also, hasn't this ever happened to you? I mean, being in a phase when you don't like your appearance, and then hating the fact to have it captured forever in pictures? I mean, in the case of Axl, it must be a million times worse, since those pictures are going to be out there for anybody to look at them forever. 

The miserable face in fans' pictures though are nothing new I think. If you have a look at social pics of Axl back in the day, I reckon he also had a rather sad look in them.

Others have said this too, but maybe because I happen to think he still looks pretty good, I never think of that as apart of it.  I'm sure part of it is about wanting his privacy too - especially in the world of social media we live in now.

I was talking about Axl specifically, and I base that on Axl himself whining about being lonely and depressed (as @SerenityScorp already mentioned and @MillionsOfSpiders kindly provided screenshots to one of these incidents I was thinking of), as well as other people who worked with him throughout the lost years saying he gave them the same impression. And frankly, he looks dead-eyed most of the time in videos and pictures off-stage. It's not quite as bad these days, but some of the stuff that surfaced during the 2000-2014 era was scary.

Also, I'm not judgemental or a traditionalist, I don't have anything against people building themselves a "chosen" family out of close friends or having unorthodox families (hell, I myself suggested that Axl should find himself a nice beefy boyfriend only a couple of pages ago). But again, we're talking about Axl here and not just any random person and Axl always talked about wanting the whole wife and kids shebang. We know he still wanted that in the 2000s (when TB was around for a long time already). By now, he's probably given up on that, but what he's got instead apparently doesn't seem to make him happy or fulfilled either. If TB were less shady and untrustworthy, and if Axl seemed happy and content with his situation in life, I wouldn't say a thing against TB or whoever else Axl chose as his family, but as it is...

(And I have to say your view of families is very cynical. Most families are dysfunctional? Where? I love my family and get along great with them and most of my friends have happy, healthy families as well, so I really can't share that impression.)

And I think you're underestimating how messed up he is. Also, both people who know Axl as well as random people on the internet keep speculating about what the hell Axl's deal is. By now I've seen nearly everything (and some of it is even very well-argued and plausible): Bipolar Disorder, Severe Depression, PTSD / complex PTSD, ADHD, anxiety disorders, Autism, Borderline Personality Disorder, different/abnormal neurological wiring in his brain, and yes, even schizophrenia. And many more I'm forgetting right now. Why is that? No one ever suggests anything like this about Slash or Duff for example. I'm thinking a lot of people can instinctively tell something is "off" about Axl, and since Axl never speaks out anymore about what's going on with him (unlike Duff, who told us very clearly what he struggles with and how he deals with it), people speculate on and on...

Also, please don't feel obliged to reply, we're probably not going to agree on this and I'm most likely not going to be around much for the next couple of days and can't reply as in depth as this topic deserves.

Think of this: Beta, who was just a nanny to the child of famous people in the 90's, scalated her way up and now she's the boss of a managing company? What is TB? They are the managers of Guns N' Roses and look at who they were 30 years ago.

So to me, these people can't be considered puppets who do and follow what Axl says or else they are fired. I'm sure Axl has fired their asses off 1 million times, but they insisted, stayed, waited and look where they are now. A whole immigrant family set up for the rest of their lives.

There's no fucking way they are innocent or stupid or puppets of Axl Rose. More like Axl is their puppet and their future and money income depends on him 100% so if they've managed to remain close to him all this time, it's clear they know what they're doing.

The bolded is an excellent point.

TB are awfully incompetent in most areas, but they sure are good at at holding onto Axl and not letting him out of their grasp. Suggesting they're just Axl's innocent little puppets and ass-lickers is ridiculous.

That's a good way of putting it- emotional dependence. And TB've made sure to foster and maintain that dependence all these years...

Keep in mind though that Slash likes to play it cool and never talks too much about what is really going on in his mind. But if you read other people's observations about Slash and read between the lines a little in the stuff he himself says, it's pretty clear Axl was on his mind a lot. Axl and Slash were as bad as each other, Slash's just better at hiding it, while Axl wears his thoughts and emotions for the whole world to see.

@solstar etc.: I definitely remember reading a quote by Axl saying he doesn't like having his picture taken. But he does it because he knows it means a lot to the fans or something. And if I'm remembering this right, this was in an old interview from back in the day, so he was never fond of being photographed to begin with.
