Woah brain overload from this thread today. Loving the Axl / Billy Joel vids. Susan's instas are music to the ears of fans. I love the way she is so supportive of the reunion. Of course it's in her financial interest... but still. (Wonder how well those swimsuits sell?!)

The lyrics to the song I posted above are pretty damn gay if sung by a man:

Everyone is telling me that he was born as a love child
By looking in his eyes something turned me lose in this hot night

Feeling the power of lust when the guy's passing by
Wrecking one's brain and I'm going insane don't know why

I can feel your sex winding up a girl in the red dress
And my brain is gone, what is going on, I'm burning inside

Feeling the power of lust when the guy's passing by
Wrecking one's brain and I'm going insane don't know why

A love child, running wild
A love child
A love child, running wild
A love child - love child

I gotta tell myself that he was born as a love child
And the story of his way should not make me stay in this hot night

Feeling the power of lust when the guy's passing by
Wrecking one's brain and I'm going insane don't know why

A love child, running wild
A love child
A love child, running wild
A love child - love child

Don't know what I am
A woman or a man
Many troubles behind me
I'm doing all I can
But I'm what I am
Leave me alone - don't mistreat me

Feeling the power of lust when the guy's passing by
Wrecking one's brain and I'm going insane don't know why
A love child, running wild

I also remember Axl (who, along with Izzy, is  apparently an expert on all things Accept for whatever reasons :suspicious::awesomeface:) mentioning another Accept song during the interview- "London Leather Boys". I'm too lazy to look up that song as well, but between the lyrics above, song titles like "London Leather Boys" and "Balls To The Wall" and album artwork like the one appearing in the Love Child video I posted, it's not hard to see where the gay thing comes from lol.

Yeah, totally see the gayness now. Thanks. Lol.

Balls to the walls isn't that gay though. Whatever

Songs are here to bring feelings, not to overanalyze. Don`t hurt art by autopsy, enjoy. I was there in Prague dancing my ass off on AC/DC and I think Bon Scott era fits Axl more. That`s all.

I will analyze whatever the heck I want. The question was for everybody in this thread.

I don't care about AC/DC or Bon Scott. Not the topic.

Big Shot has perfect Stephanie Seymour lyrics doesn't it

Thats the first thing that popped in my head when I saw them.

Yes!!!

OMG, when I read that it I couldn't help but lumping all of these songs together in my mind: TWAT, IRS, Shot Down in Flames and of course, the Big Shot

Sorry, the lyrics of Big Shot remind me of Axl himself. I don't see any connection to Stephanie Seymour here.  Maybe Axl is capable of self irony ( is that even a word?)

I don't think a guy like Axl would laugh of himself in that aspect. That's his very essence that he cannot avoid much. I don't think he's self-conscious of the way he comes across, in spite of making some self-deprecating things like NITL.

Besides, I knew the song was about a woman because of the line that talks about the dress from Halston, or something like that.

Omg @Frey I am laughing my head off at your description of Axl's Izzy stories, his izzy stories really are the best. Hilarious

Axl is the best at telling stories about Slash and Izzy. I wish he would do that more often.

I think you're underestimating him a bit here. On the rare occassions he does get chatty he can be pretty self-depreciating and honest. Remarks like his sarcastic "When have you ever known me to be reactionary?" or him poking fun at himself for being sensitive and easily hurt by what people/the press are saying about him come to mind. Or him talking about how he thinks the trilogy videos are kind of over-the-top and cheesy nowadays.

I would think he can laugh at himself. Naming the tour Not In This Lifetime proves that to me.

The song was about Bianca Jagger, apparently. He wrote it after a dinner with Mick and Bianca and imagined Mick singing this to Bianca.

I`ll then write something just for you, a tip for having more beautiful day. Music is here to move you, it`s made for connecting people and triggering emotions which are rarely meant to be about something concrete and available to point to. Autopsy with overanalyzing makes it loose its wholeness and beauty and all what it carries inside for you. In fact art never works when it`s analyzed. Make yourself some safe calm place and try to create something artistic, not just ordinary DIY art, try to do something which expose your deepest soul things. (you can mark it as "exercise to figure out how extremely creative mind of some people actually works"). Helps with overanalyzing, calms down soul and offers unexpected answers and solutions and insights.

Honestly, I think he did Big Shot because it is bang in the middle of the encore and that's the perfect time to bring him back out and you need a kind of more edgier song than Uptown Girl for Axl Rose, don't you?  That's all.

True. I mean out of all the songs we suffered through I can't think of one that would've fit Axl's voice except for Big Shot.

Quote

Still, the song would be a perfect SS song :P

On the other hand this.  It really does fit her to a T, even her recent behavior fits.

I'm not convinced it was specifically chosen for her, though. With Axl's lifestyle I wouldn't be surprised if he had many women in his life that fit in with those lyrics.

Me too, the Izzy stories are just pure gold, especially as it really helps build up a picture of him because we don't see that much of him. When Axl is in a good mood talking about Izzy he sounds like he's in total awe of him, like he's his cooler big brother, I love it. He paints him as such a great character and very funny too.

I disagree.

What he does, sometimes, that thing you guys call self-depreciating, it's more like when you go on a job interview and they ask you to talk about your "weaknesses".

Anyone who's gone through that (and is not a n00b) knows that you are not supposed to answer that question with things like "well... you know how I enjoy watching porn late at night, which causes me to get little sleep and this is why I'm always late to work."

When you talk about your weaknesses at a job interview you try to make a negative look like a positive thing or you talk about something that is not entirely negative, otherwise no one would hire a person who goes full honest saying they are liars, cheaters, slow learners or shit like that.

I've never seen Axl laugh about himself to a point where he digs himself a grave. I mean, he's dug his own grave with lots of things, but it's never been the self-depreciating way.

"NITL" is a funny sarcastic thing but it's a win-win as well. It's the negative turned positive. Now, have you heard Axl actually talking about it? Have we heard Axl saying "oh yes, I'm an asshole and had to eat my own words so that's why I'm now making fun of myself". Actually, when he was asked about the reunion, he said that bullshit about the Coachella guy, which no real fan actually believes. That's to prove that he wasn't going to admit anything about the reunion to anyone, so he made up some BS story to save face. Yet, NITL remains a cool thing.

This "Big Shot" song might seem like an accurate description of Axl to some people, but Axl has never acknowledged himself as an idiot floating in money and fake stuff. Axl loves being that kind of person. We've talked about how much he enjoys hanging out with the new rich, stupid models, wearing lots of jewels, his love of the Faena hotel and the luxurious life. That's his thing: the leopard, the bling bling, Dubai, fancy cars, caviar... He doesn't see anything wrong with it.

So aside from officially knowing this song is indeed about a woman, if it wasn't, I really doubt Axl wwould ever think of himself like a big shot.

"Uptown girl" fits SS.  She started dating wealthy guys at 15, even met Casablancas at 14 when he was 39 or 40. I saw a recent article where she was saying her daughter got braces and as a reward she took her to Barney's and said she could get anything she wanted. Her son seems to making fun of her here.

I'm confused, why are we talking about Uptown Girl? What I meant with my post was Big Shot was the only song in the set that complimented Axl's vocal range. (in my opinion)

But regardless, considering Uptown Girl is about a poor man trying to date a wealthy women I don't think it really fits Axl & Stephanie's relationship. :shrugs:

Axl singing Uptown Girl just wouldn't suit him at all, not the vocals and not the poppyness of the song. I agree with @Frey it would've been hilarious to see him sing it, for our own amusement

I think it came down to timing and vocal range too. His mid range is all but gone, we have his banshee wail or the lower register that are still good, so it is limiting.

I only wanted to discuss the reason why Axl got to sing 'Big Shot' and not some other tune. I found the lyrics to be pretty much a "Stephanie Seymour" kind of song.

Yeah, Im enjoying the lyrics discussion to be honest. I like what you said earlier, how it reminded you of TWAT and others, but specifically TWAT, it really does me too. And now I have been listening to both songs for the last day and I can't get either out of my head!! So that's now two songs I thought sucked that I can't stop listening to, and I'm up to five I like on CD

Shot Down In Flames with ACDC I find another interesting choice by him, but more so Touch Too Much.

Everything that fucker sings becomes instantly gold to me, I don't get it

jk he sang the entire Chinese Democracy album and I still can't dig that shit :smiley-confused2:

What's Instagram stories that everyone is talking about?

They are little videos that people post and they are ephemeral... disappear as long as the person makes a new one... They last a few seconds
