:shrugs: I know there were strong influences from New York Doll and the 80's music played with gender roles across a lot of genres. I just wonder looking back at early photos are the clothes conscious decisions or just naturall influences of what was going on around them.

I know this has been discussed in part before, I think Izzy had a strong influence on how they should look, but just as in the discussion about Axl and his little shorts I would love to know what the other members thought about various outfits. Was there anything that was taking it to far? Do we have any specific stories relating to stage attire.

All I know and remember is that most of those clothes belonged to women they were dating or the strippers they worked with.

They were so poor that they didn't have money to buy clothes for the shows, so the strippers borrowed them stuff and that's why I think some of the early pics show the guys wearing actual women's clothes.

Axl wore a lot of Erin's clothes for a while, for example.

@Archtop Slash said he liked Axl's leather skirt, but was a bit skeptical about the white leather ensemble (I assume he means the Paradise City outfit)

Also, I can't believe the Jimmy Kimmel thing hasn't been discussed here yet. From the other thread:

You're one of the few people who's interviewed Axl Rose lately. What was that like?
I actually hung out with him after the show – we went to the hotel next door and talked for a long time. He's a very engaging guy, which I would not have guessed would be the case. You could have a real deep conversation with him. No matter what issues he's had with Slash and the rest of the gang, he loves them and just wanted to talk about it with someone. He was telling me his side of the story. I don't want to violate his confidence, but I got the sense they would eventually get back together

http://www.rollingstone.com/tv/features/jimmy-kimmel-on-twitter-toilets-and-talking-with-axl-rose-w465857

As someone in the other thread said, you apparently couldn't stand next to Axl for three minutes without Axl starting to talk about Slash.

Even Jimmy Kimmel wasn't safe from Axl's Slash ramblings.

This is like the 500th example we get of Axl talking random other people's ear off about Slash. Slash really was (is) Axl's favorite topic of discussion

Yes you're right, I had forgotten about that, I bet the women were more than encouraging, "Axl; leather chaps and a thong, is the way forward". ?I think they also said they got a lot from thrift shops. Still I woul love to have been a fly on the wall when they were getting ready, or somebody was suggesting "here wear this!"

I think this would be one of my questions to ask should I ever get the chance, "was there ever a moment on stage, looking round at your band mates that you ever thought that outfit is a step to far" I guess the only one who played it comparativly safe was steven, I can only think of the fishnet top that was an interesting choice.

Slash tweeted earlier about Heart and Bone a jewellery designer, where he got a custom made Lemmy ring. I googled the website instagram and look who I found. Ha ha, ? No Izzy ring!

Those are really cool. Wild fingernails too. I may have to check that site out. :headbang:

Actually did check it out. They have the Slash ring above and one called Snakepit. Mostly custom made stuff.

Speaking of rings... does anyone know what is on Slash's flat ring? That Instagram picture is too fuzzy to make out.

Can't enlarge it good on this cellphone. Will try later once my tablet recharges. From this it looks like Japanese or Chinese something....probably just this phone

I hope that Part 2 will really mark a fresh start. :) And since the versatility of the thread is one of its qualities, which also means that people like it and participate in it for different reasons (others mostly for the pics and gifs, others for the gossip, others for the more serious discussions, others for a bit of all etc), the rules might help to keep it going smoothly.

It's not that I really love these things, I just find them (personally) less annoying than pointless spam for example. And some of them are funny (like Lumikki's manips for example).

Anyway, don't stress about it. I'll only be able to work on this little project occasionally as well (when I find the time). But I'll probably have a few days off in the near future, so I thought now might be good time to at least get a tiny bit of what we originally planned done. A "Best of" kind of thing. And no one here wants to go through every page probably, but I thought we could at least link to the pages or posts where major discussions started and/or great, well-liked posts within these discussions.

Great idea. There are a lot of gems in the old thread (interesting discussions, informative posts, rare pics, the gifs etc) that deserve to be highlighted and indexed for future reference. Since a full index per page or per topic is now impossible, we can at least have a "best of". I'll try to help as much as I can.

Off topic:

Spoiler

A belated (because it felt a bit awkward, lol)  thank you to @Lumikki, @Whiskey Rose, @Oldest Goat and everyone else for your posts and likes in the Gene Simmons thread. I really appreciate it :)

Sorry messed up with the quoting but yeah i agree if it was revealed maybe we could get a better understanding of if he did call for a police escort or not. The police said a call was made hope he was just stuck in traffic, i was dissapointed when i read it at first i thought "it was going so well..."

Thanks, I was wondering if it was even Axl, rare to see his arm with out the women's face tattoo is it really Monique Lewis, I always thought it was Barbi von Grief.

So it's possibly Tracii Guns, that's one brave outfit, you have to wonder at some of the decisions they made. Was it discussed did Tracii say;

"hey, Axl what do you think about me wearing a full lace body suit on stage tonight"

"yeah Tracii thats a good look, I'm going with leather"

I'm not sure about the tattoo being Monique or Barbi but in relation to the outfit I don't think Axl would be opposed to it at all. I mean he's the biggest Queen fan and we all know Freddie was very flamboyant when it came to attire. I think their idols make such impressions on them and influence their choices in music and attire just as well.

I have the impression that most of the times, Susan looks for visibility using her husband's sweetness.

I find her and Meegan annoying.

I think Susan is really missing having her own career and as for Meegan has anyone else here noticed she seems really shy. It seems like she hides her face a lot in pics.

Well he did only wear tight shorts during UYI tour, I can see him wearing unitard like Freddie. Maybe if things alright between GN'R at that time, he might go into that direction :rofl-lol:

I read that there was a power outage according to some of the fans replys on the GnR Facebook post. I wonder if this possibly caused him to be late. He probably was stuck in traffic and panicked trying to get a police escort to no avail but if the other band members were there then it doesn't make him look good. I'm looking for more info on it.

Well whatever the reasons, The only one who will get the blame is always Axl <_<

Hopefully it doesn't become a big deal. Either it's not true so it doesn't matter or it it is true. So if it is true the guy had 80 thousand people waiting for him and he or someone around him thought it might be a good idea to try and and get to the concert in reasonable time.  I don't have a problem with that. At least there was concern on their behalf that 80 thousand angry people might be a problem...better to care than not....and the situation was assessed and help declined...no harm done.  Hardly prima-Donna behaviour that any story might suggest.  So not really an issue either way in my book.
