New GNR Album Coming?

Recommended Posts

OK so I ran into someone from GNR's camp while the band were on tour here in Australia who told me the current lineup have been writing new material on the road & are planning to start work on a new album once the tour wraps!!!

Anyone else heard anything similar?? Insanely excited but also a little nervous to hear what new Gunners music might sound like lol.

Tentatively...but absolutely feeling positive about this news and sooooo hoping it does happen!!! I know we have all this heard this kind of thing before. And of course only time will tell. But I am not ready to give up on new music quite yet.

They can write a thousand songs, but none of it matters until Axl has lyrics and vocals done. Unless they're just tweaking or re-re-re-re-recording Chinese Democracy songs.

I'd love to hear new music, but until something leaks or we start hearing rumors from a lot of sources, I don't expect an album to come out.

I'm betting this guy you met is right now having fun launghing at how his made-up rumor has made way into a fan forum.

I doubt it, it was someone really close to the band and he seemed super sincere. Don't wanna name names though in case I get him in trouble

The thing with these posts that bother me is that it's never specified who said it. "someone from GNRs camp"..what do you have to lose by posting who said it? You think they're gonna knock on your door and abduct you? Just say who it was lol so we can make a more accurate assumption whether this has any merit or not.

If they get a competent drummer, a new album would be awesome. Otherwise, I'd rather listen to SMKC III. Fitzy never disappoints.

Slash always keeps busy, it will either be pre production for GNR or he will finally hit the studio for the year long delayed SMKC III while Axl goes to writing with Angus. Whatever happens I will love new music.

I know and I love that about him but what scares the shit out of me is the idea of Frank playing drums on a GNR record. There are so many great drummers that it would be painful to have this guy fucking up a GNR album (and their first album since 1991!). You don't want Steven? Call Brent Fitz, call Josh Freese, call Duff's wife, anyone will do a better job!

The reason people don't mention the name is because, let's say Richard says "we're recording in November" and then it appears on blabbermouth that they'll be recording in November and Richard has said so to a random fan on the street... information that was supposed to be kept on the down low. Richard is going to be pistol whipped by management on the orders of the boss.

And that goes for anyone under the employment of Axl/GnR besides maybe Slash or Duff.

Just like with NuGNR, I'll believe it when I see it. There's even less reason here they have to because Axl, Slash and Duff could easily tour the greatest hits for the rest of their days. NuGNR probably couldn't forever, and were losing support in the US.

So a new album would be nice, but they don't really need it and combine that with Axl's history of taking awhile... again I'll just believe it when I see it. I truly don't believe there are plans, but maybe I'm wrong.

Well.. as unsensitive as it sounds I hope Richard gets kicked out actually so they can work out a deal with Izzy, so that works for me lol. Who actually cares if someone like a soundguy gets whipped in exchange for us knowing that this is not another bullshit post like the "they're gonna release a new song before Christmas"?

Even if they are jamming and writing songs on the road that doesn't mean anything. That's just something that musicians do. If you're jamming in rehearsal, inevitably you're gonna instinctively write stuff. But actually going into a studio and recording material and then Axl actually putting lyrics to it and tracking vocals is a whole lot different. I do think it'll happen as I legitimately think Axl and all of them do want to do it but it won't be for a while.

So, we've moved on past "frank can't play AFD songs" to "frank isn't a competent drummer". That is moronic. Frank is a highly regarded drummer, that's why he was hired in 2006, just like why Matt was hired, Brain, Freese each drummer has been top calibre and Frank is no different. End of story.
