Your first game console?

First console I played was the gamecube. We didn't own one but me and my siblings went home with my mom's friend's kids after school because our mom had work and her friend had a gamecube. (So we thought that was super cool.) The nostalgia.

I am usually a PC gamer these days because I have to do something with the awesome PCs that I built as a teenager. Also because I hate having to get a new console each time a new one comes out and game companies stop making new games for the older console. It's much easier and economical for me to switch out the power supply and graphics card in my PC to an upgraded version every couple years.

I had an NES to myself once a Genesis entered the household so I was in the position where I readily had access to both. The N64 was on its way by this time but I didn't get my N64 until Christmas of 1998. That's a habit I've kind of maintained in adulthood - never buying a new console right at launch.

I think for me it was a Gamecube.. I didn't hit the "im just gunna stay home and play video games all weekend" age until about 2003-2004. Soon after that it was a PS2 though, which im surprised no one has brought up yet!

What were your favorite games on Gamecube? For me it was Animal Crossing and whatever that dancing game with the arrows was. My memory fails me haha

ATV Quad Power Racing 2.... I played that game like no other.

Burnout... Holy shit. I used to play this game all the time with my cousins. The epitome of racing games for me at the time.

I think i played the first Call Of Duty, Cars (after the animated Pixar movie), Dakar 2: The Worlds Ultimate Rally, From Russia With Love, GoldenEye: Rouge Agent and some other 007 games, Lego Star Wars, NASCAR 2005: Chase For The Cup and Dirt To Daytona, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, Pitfall: The Last Expedition, Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2, and Splinter Cell...

I was by no means a "Nintendo" gamer... I stayed away from the Marios, Zeldas, Pokemons, Metroids, etc etc in favor of racing and action games lol. Although i did get into the world of Nintendo when the DS and Wii came out, but eventually went back to my PS3... This will probably be the case with the Switch.

I think the game you are referring too with the arrows was Dance Dance Revolution! I had that for PS2 when that was all the rage.

Funny story about Animal Crossing, a friend of my moms son stayed with us after Hurricane Katrina because they had lost their house and he got me heavily into Animal Crossing and Shrek 2 for the Gamecube. Turns out, 10 years later, he went to jail for 800 counts of child pornography..  Crazy shit right there

Oh yeah, Dance Dance Revolution. I 'member now, thank you. Yeah the only issue with Animal Crossing was when you couldn't play for a few weeks and then your entire town would have run amok while you were gone. :(

Not sure if it qualifies as a gaming console, but the first machine my parents bought for my brother and I was the Commodore 64.  I loved playing Pacman, Ghost & Gobblins, Popeye, Lode Runner, Donkey Kong, and some of the old classics that were later ported to Nintendo and Sega.

My first dedicated console was the NES.  I was glued to this system for years until I bought a SNES the weekend it came out.

I think that's why I'm more drawn to games on my iPad than my PS3 or Xbox 360 (which I haven't touched in a couple of years).  Miss the simplicity that this old games use to encapsulate that has been picked up with mobile games.

I never liked mobile gaming maybe because my nerd brain cannot understand the over simplicity of the iPad. I don't know why, I just hate tablets. I think there are some online games and downloadable PC games that could give you that simplicity however. I know there are a couple of cheap games on Steam.

Does anyone here like Indie Games? I know I played a couple of pixel-y Indie games a few years back. I also like horror games. 0_o

Same here. We owned pretty much everything over the years though except the Atari 7800 and IntelliVision.

2600, Odyssey 2, 5200, NES, Genesis, Super NES, Sega CD, Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, N64, GameCube, PS3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360 & now the Switch have all graced my home over the years.

I think the Sega Saturn was mine.

It's hard to remember. We've had videogames around the house since I was born and I grew up playing stuff like Sonic, Pac Man, and Flicky on some console. It was either the Genesis or the Saturn. If it was the Genesis then the console released before I was born and it just happened to be around the house as I grew up. We also had the Sega Channel thing so it was whatever supported that.

+1 for the C64! My brother and I spent most of Christmas day 1990 sat in front of the TV waiting for Midnight Resistance to load from a cassette tape....

i was mostly a PC gamer until i got a PS2 in 02.

had a trove of computer games that are classic status today (everything from Road Rash, GTA 2 to Sims, Wheel of Fortune) but somebody stole them when they broke in...wish i still had them
