Bukka White

Son House

Charley Patton

John Coltrane when he did blues (try Blues Train)

Jimmy Reed is a fucking must

T Bone Walker

My man Little Walter

Elmore James

Mississippi John Hurt

Slim Harpo

Go for Jimmy Reed, Little Walter and Bukka White first.  Patton is brilliant but he can be heavy going.

Damon Fowler (Recently saw him with George Thorogood, who puts on a fun show!)

Selwyn Birchwood (new album out next month)

Homemade Jamz Blues Band (trio of siblings, but they may be on hiatus?  Saw them at Chicago Blues Festival a couple of years ago.)

How about early AC/DC? Their first about 2 or 3 albums are very bluesy.

Mostly just a few (brilliant songs though). And I already have everything AC/DC.

Sorting some of these out, thanks Leonard! Not really a fan of Coltrane's blues. Forgot about Elmore James, he was on my to-check-out list for a while!

Jimi Hendrix played some amazing blues........

And some of my favorites

Johnny Winter

The Allman Brothers

Govt Mule

North Mississippi Allstars

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

ZZTop........ early stuff

Jimi definitely did! Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is good too! My dad played that a lot. Will check some of the others out. Not too big of a ZZ Top fan.

Check out some Gary Clark Jr.  also Tedeschi Trucks Band, Robert Cray, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Moore, Robert Randolph.

Will do. Bonamassa was already on my list and I'm a Gary Moore fan too but I forgot to list him.

username,  check out the first three ZZTop albums.....First, Rio Grande Mud and Tres Hombres.......IMHO as good a it gets for Blues playing.......

I gotta agree. Early ZZ is surprisingly very bluesy and in a very genuine way. Billy Gibbons can play the hell out of it.

The Stones recent blues cover album is good. It's not the originals but the effort is nice.

Dude spot on. See... Billy deserves his Pearly Gates. He can get bluesy as hell with ease. But infinitely more important, it's his sensitive silky smooth touch. Check out the tone at the 0:29 mark. No one can do that but him. And it's always bluesy, even when it rocks.
